Quotes Season 1 Episode 4 – Escape from Dragon House

Posted by Shadaliza On September - 29 - 2008

Tara: School is just for white people looking for other white people to read to them. I’d figure I’d save my money and read to my self.

Sam to Sookie: The fact that you think you’ll be fine only proves just how not fine you’re gonna be. Vampires think about 1 thing and 1 thing only: drinking your blood.

Sookie to Bill: Penny for your thoughts.

Bill: You look like vampire bait.
Sookie: So you are saying you think I look nice?

Bill to Sookie at Fangtasia: Still think you are in Disney World?

Bill to Sookie at Fangtasia: Uh-oh
Sookie: Don’t say uh-oh. Vampires aren’t supposed to say uh-oh.

Eric talking about Maudette: This one offered her self to me. I found her too pathetic for my attentions.

Bill to Sookie in the car: We vampires are always in some kind of trouble, I prefer to be in it with you.

Bill to the police officer with the flash light: Why don’t you ask her if you could shine it between her legs.

Flesh and ‘Blood’ inspire Moyer

Posted by Shadaliza On September - 28 - 2008

Source: Boston Herald

It seems that the article is no longer available on the website of the Boston Herald, but I managed to save the text.

Stephen Moyer is one guilt-ridden vampire.

After taking the role of blood sucker Bill Compton on HBO’s “True Blood,” he suffered pangs of guilt about leaving his two children – Billy, 8, and Lilac, 6 – behind in England.

“I wrestled a lot with it,” he said.

Moyer never expected to get the role. After reading the pilot script, he videotaped himself doing a Southern accent and sent it to producers.

“I didn’t expect to get a call back,” he said.

Soon enough, he was on a plane to Los Angeles to meet them.

“I had been through this kind of thing three or four times,” he said. “You go all that way and things don’t work out. I kind of went with the attitude, whatever.”

He recently talked about completing the first season of “True Blood” (tonight at 9) and how the series changed his life. (HBO has already renewed the show for a second season.)

Part of the change is his traveling. Moyer often zips from the United States to England. Leaving his children behind was difficult.

“It’s the toughest part of this job,” he said.

Unlike his character – a distant and mysterious vampire who has to control his violent nature – Moyer is open and giving in an interview. He’s also homesick.

Even when the conversation goes into the making of the show, based on a series of popular books of the same name by Charlaine Harris, Moyer drifts back into talking about his children.

“I bought them a computer, so I talk to them every day,” he said. “It’s like they are in the room.

“In fact, we probably spend more time talking now than we would if I were at home. That moment has to count for us, and that’s beautiful.”

They’re also used to seeing what daddy does for a living.

Before his children made a visit to the “True” set, Moyer wanted the nanny to prepare them for the worst.

“Just warn them that I don’t look all that great,” he told her.

His face was covered with prosthetics for a gruesome scene.

Once his children got to him, he wasn’t ready for their reaction.

“My daughter sat in my lap and talked about puppies,” he said, laughing.

“I said, ‘Hey, what about (my look)?’ and she said, ‘Oh, yes, horrid! Anyway, I want the puppy.’ ”

His son barely acknowledged his father’s disfigured face, preferring to talk about a trip to the museum.

“They know it’s pretend,” he said. “They know, and it’s lovely.”

FAQ – How does one become a vampire?

Posted by Shadaliza On September - 27 - 2008

To become a vampire a human must be almost completely drained of his blood. He is dying. Then he must drink a substantial amount of vampire blood and he will become a vampire himself.
Sookie drinks a lot of Bill’s blood, but she isn’t drained of her own blood, that’s why she doesn’t become a vampire.

Update 17 november

Episode 11 provides a better explanation of how a vampire is “made”. Not only does the victim have to be drained by a vampire, then given the vamp blood, but they have to spend the night with the maker in a hole all buried up in a grave. That vampire’s magic essence is transferred to the victim, who sleeps two more days without the maker then awakens vamp.

Stephen Moyer In “True Blood”

Posted by Shadaliza On September - 25 - 2008

Article on mediablvd.com

On the HBO television series True Blood, already renewed for a second season, Stephen Moyer plays Bill Compton, the 173-year-old vampire who takes a special interest in a local waitress, named Sookie Stackhouse (played by Academy Award winner Anna Paquin).  Having seen more than his share of cruelty and violence, Bill has returned to his family home in Bon Temps, Louisiana, hoping to reconnect with whatever humanity he’s managed to retain over the years. He never expected his attempt at mainstreaming to include an attraction to a human girl.

Moyer, previously known for his role as Debra Messing’s love interest in the hit series The Starter Wife, splits his time between Los Angeles, where True Blood films, and his native England. The 37-year-old recently spoke to MediaBlvd Magazine about what it’s like to play a vampire and talk with fangs.

MediaBlvd Magazine> How did you get this job? Was it just a normal audition that your agent sent you to?

Stephen Moyer> I had come back from Australia, where I had been doing The Starter Wife, and, at the time, I was tan and blonde. I’d been away for a long time, and I wanted to be back in London. I’ve got kids at home, and I wanted to be with my kids. And so, I turned down a few scripts. I didn’t want to come to America, straight away. But then, I saw True Blood and I found out it was being done by Alan Ball. I read it and, the next day, I put myself on tape. They’d had trouble finding Bill. They’d been looking for about five months. It was March, and I put myself on tape the next morning. They emailed it to America, Alan saw it that afternoon, and I flew out the next morning. When Anna and I met, I was tan and blonde, and she was white with black hair. We’ve reversed roles completely.

MediaBlvd> Had you been familiar with the books?

Stephen> I hadn’t heard of them, ever before. But, as soon as I got the job, I started doing the research and reading the books. My character is from the American Civil War, so I went back to the Civil War and started reading about that.

MediaBlvd> Were you a fan of the vampire genre before this?

Stephen> It’s not the genre that I would have jumped at, to be honest. I’d read Anne Rice, but that was about it. I did play a vampire in ‘98, in a series called Ultraviolet. I have these sharp canines, so in that show, we decided not to even give me vampire teeth. But, for this, we have different teeth. It’s not my jump-to genre, but I read the first book and I could totally understand what Alan saw in it. Sookie is amazing, Bill is a fantastic character, and the world that Charlaine Harris sets up is just unbelievable.

MediaBlvd> What is your jump-to genre?

Stephen> My jump-to genre is modern fiction, really — from Steinbeck, and all of those, until now.
