True Blood’s Alfre Woodard, along with Rosie Perez and Claire Danes are among the 2011 Recipients of the Gracie Awards, celebrating programming for women, by women and about women.
Woodard is honored for Outstanding Female Actor in a Supporting Role-Drama Series or Special for “Delta Blues” (TNT); Danes will receive the Outstanding Female Actor in a Leading Role honor for “Temple Grandin” (HBO); and Perez will be presented with the Outstanding Female Actor in a Leading Role in a Drama Special recognition for “In Plain Sight” (Lifetime Movie Network).
Also receiving awards are Betty White, Outstanding Female Actor in a Leading Role in Comedy Series or Special for “Hot in Cleveland” (TV Land); “Private Practice” for Outstanding Drama (ABC); Meredith Vieira, Outstanding Anchor-News for “The Today Show” (NBC); and Chelsea Lately for Outstanding Talk Show-Entertainment (E!).
The Gracie Awards gala will take place May 24 in Los Angeles. The luncheon will follow on May 25. The Gracie Awards are presented by the Alliance for Women in Media.
