Congratulations to True Blood’s official Twitter account, @TrueBloodHBO, for winning the Shorty Award in the Entertainment category last night. Many Truebies voted through Twitter and secured the award for the wonderful folks who manage the True Blood Twitter account.

The Shorty Awards honor the best people and organizations on Twitter. These unique awards are for the Twitter community, by the Twitter community.

In an online interview with the Shorty Awards website @TrueBloodHBO talks about Twitter and the fans.

What are six things you could never do without?
Tweetdeck, bit.ly, HBO, Facebook, Charlaine Harris novels… and coffee.

How do you use Twitter in your professional life?
We use Twitter to listen. To reward and encourage creativity. With love and respect for our fans.

What was the funniest trend you’ve seen?
#secretlyavampire

What feature should Twitter add?
10 more characters. That’s all we ask. Just 10 more. World of difference.

What are some words or phrases you refuse to shorten for brevity?
No words are safe from abbreviation when there’s something we’re dying to say.

Terms you wish would start trending on Twitter right now?
True Blood, #tbwithdrawal, HBO, #vampiresdontsparkle

What’s the most interesting connection you’ve made through Twitter?
@PaulaAbdul and @AdamLambert have mentioned us in their tweets. Both pretty interesting.

Hashtag you created that you wish everyone used?
#TrueBlood, #tbwithdrawal, #tbhaiku

How do you make your tweets unique?
Our tweets aren’t that remarkably unique. It’s what our followers DO with them that make them truly special.

140 characters of advice for a new user?
There is no wrong, just right.

How long can you go without a tweet?
We will rarely go longer than one whole day. Too much True Blood news in the world to report on.

Who do you admire most for his or her use of Twitter?
@SookieBonTemps. She is our bravest, most brilliant True Blood Twitter player, and she elevates what we do.

Why’d you start tweeting?
We wanted to get to know our fans a whole lot better. And, because we had plenty to say.

What are some big Twitter faux pas?
These are constantly evolving. For now, it is not wise to type more than 130 characters if you want followers to respond.

I don’t tweet, so this is a whole new world to me. Maybe there is a special protocol for offering congratulations. I don’t know what it is, so I will offer mine the old fashioned way. Congratulations to @TrueBloodHBO.
