True Blood’s Carrie Preston, spoke to Speakeasy recently and was mostly tight-lipped about the finale episode, which airs this Sunday, but she did provide some small hints:
“We’re going to pick right back up from the cliffhanger,” she said in a phone interview. “At every table read we do, whenever we say goodbye to a character or a character dies, everyone gives a round of applause.” She paused. “Let’s just say there were than a few rounds of applause for this one. We clapped a lot at the table read.”
Well, that sounds to me like there’s gonna be a lot of blood in episode 12. I’m looking forward to it as are all the fans.
When asked whether the shows writers had perhaps set up the face-off between vampires and humans a little soon, Preston was not convinced.
“You might be picturing the finale a little differently,” she said. “The writers on our show are extremely smart and they know we have a season 6 coming up. They really know how to leave you hanging and open up a lot of potential story lines for another season. Don’t worry, they’re not going to spend all their ideas on the finale. They always surprise us every year.”
Preston agreed that the relationship between Arlene and Terry is a special one, but wasn’t sure whether the writers plan to return to Terry’s PTSD now that his story line was effectively wrapped up.
“Todd [Lowe, who plays Terry] and I are very curious ourselves. We’re like, ‘OK what are they going to do next?’ We haven’t been left with any indication.”
The cast finished filming in early July and will have a break before filming the next season, so Preston has time to focus on her other pursuits, the most immediate of which is her movie “That’s What She said.” The movie, which she directed and which premiered at Sundance last January, will be released October 19 and features Anne Heche.
Preston will also release a pilot for a web series at the New York Television Festival in October.
“I find a lot of fulfillment from producing and directing,” she said. “It really enhances my acting.
