I just want to note that this interview is from 2008, not 2009. Alexander sounds like a very interesting person. I have always enjoyed his father, Stellan’s, acting. Alex is a chip off the old block, and has a great acting future to look forward to.

It’s fun to read this stuff because its just before True Blood took off and Generation Kill was just airing. Lots of interesting stuff on GK. He grew up like I did watching Charlie Chaplin and Tom & Jerry… hehehe

Good interview. Alex sounds like he’s got his feet planted squarely on the ground.
For those who’ve not seen Generation Kill, I highly recommend it. It’s pretty much nothing like your usual war movie–which I normally don’t like at all. Instead, it’s almost exclusively about the personalities, relationships and reactions of this small group of Marines.
It’s a true story as collected by the reporter who embedded with them for a month, Evan Wright.
As to how visceral it is, I would say it’s actually very infrequent and quick with the gory and painful moments. The vast majority of it is the story of how this group of First Recon Marines traveled in open-top humvees from Kuwait to Baghdad, getting into the occasional firefight and continuously finding themselves in strange situations.
The acting is top notch, every single actor is amazing, including some very good looking ones, like Rudy Reyes (a real Marine playing himself–he has an amazing nude scene), Jon Huertas, James Ransone, Stark Sands, and of course, our very own Alexander Skarsgard.

Alex and Stephen really are pretty equal in quality and uniqueness of looks but completely different as well.
Alex is actually a very pretty man. Not in a bad way pretty but in a masculine way. I love his haircut. Impressive photos.
