Spending time with Sam Trammell at EyeCon True Blood

Sam Trammell …… What more can I say – this young man needs no introduction – He is a gentleman thru and thru. He’s charming, intelligent, bright, beautiful and quick witted – perhaps even more so than Stephen Moyer. Did I mention that he has the most beautiful blue eyes I have ever had the pleasure to look upon, besides a smile that would light up New York City? His gorgeousness is not the only aspect to this talented young man, he has “IT”. He is the complete package – beauty, brains, superb acting skills, and a penchant for our world’s oceans and our suffering Earth. What more could a girl ask for?

When I met Sam on Friday night at the Cocktail Party, he was engaging, forthright and direct. He was very personable and sweet, maybe a bit taken aback by me. We all introduced ourselves to him so that he knew whom we represented, Stephen Moyer’s Billsbabes. Yes, there are a lot of us worldwide, but as he was told, we do spread the love around and he has his own Forum on the Yuku board. I guess that would make Michael his Web mistress. We did leave early from that party as we were going to The Palm for dinner, but decided it was too late and headed for Fish Bones instead.

We saw Sam and spent quite a bit of time with him throughout the weekend, more so than the other actors. He was gracious enough to sign a few items for our Billsbabes “Raffles for Charity” on www.Trueblood-Online.com – The Vault.
We also had a few novelties from our Billsbabes Shoppe, (www.cafepress.com/billsbabe) that we carry as regular items, for Sam’s character Sam that we also had him sign for charity as well. We asked him his favorite charity and he told us Oceana. We are in contact with Oceana and will proceed with raffle items signed by Sam and the cast for this great organization in a few weeks. You can find more information at http://na.oceana.org on this wonderful charity.

At Saturday night’s supper with Sam, he could not have been more engaging. The entire table was charmed by him. The supper conversation was very personal and intimate and I will not discuss in detail what was said as that was private, but the entire table was enthralled with this young man’s wit and we had many laughs. (On a personal note: I do commend him for his choice of vehicle, it will offset my carbon footprint – which is HUGE! LOL! – I will try to do better …. ) As conversation flowed, I prompted him as to which director he would like to work with. Sam expressed his desire to work with director Wes Anderson (Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Darjeeling Limited). He also expressed a keen interest in helming behind the camera and directing. I would love to see this happen for him. We were talking about what genre he would like to start with and it was “horror “. I thought to myself ,hmmmm, Stephen King has a new book coming out called THE WIND THROUGH THE KEYHOLE…. (I am always thinking) I would love to see this young man direct , although I do hope he does not deny us his presence in front of the camera. I would also love to see this Tony Nominated actor back on Broadway again. Perhaps, in one of his breaks in filming True Blood, we will have the pleasure of seeing this diverse actor once again on the stage. That is a ticket I will not miss.

As I feel, Season One belonged to Anna and Steve and Season Two belonged to Anders Skarsgard and Michelle Forbes, I sure do hope that Season Three is the Year of the Dog, err, moreover the Year of Sam Merlotte and Sam Trammell. He is after all, the third top liner. I hope they feature this consummate professional all season long. He is a gifted, thoughtful actor that (to me) seemed to be on the back burner in Season 2. I wanted to see more of him. His performance in the Season Ender (Episode 12 – Beyond Here Lies Nothin’) from the moment Bill dragged him out of the crowd to the end was superb and award winning. I hope that HBO puts this multi talented, multi faceted actor in for consideration for the awards season this year. He deserves it for this performance alone. See you at the GG’s Sam.

On another note, I was a little dismayed when I picked up a copy of GQ and Sam was noticeably missing. He should have been there. I would love to see Sam in a few magazine or fashion shoots. It would give us girls something to talk about in between his projects. You can see Sam in his new film coming out in 2010 called “The Details” and of course in June 2010 in True Blood.

samsbabesI want to personally thank Sam for his hospitality and graciousness that he showed to all the Billsbabes this past weekend – he was an absolute gem and a gentleman. They could not have selected a better ambassador to have brought to the public in a convention setting than this young man. He’s an absolute doll. I have made a new shirt that will debut in the Billsbabes Shoppe for this young man’s fans……Samsbabes…… I will be the first to order, as well as new Sam Wallpapers and YouTube Videos that will be debuting on The Vault in the next few days/weeks.

  1. A virtual love fest for Mr. Trammel. Sterling … you’re in love! He did seem to be a sweet, happy to meet and greet fans kinda guy, and I too hope that he’s featured prominantly in Season 3. The more we see of these fine actors, the more there is to love. “Details” sound like a great project, and one that I am anxious to see.

    Michael,

This is a wonderful write-up, and I am still working on mine. It was very emotional coming home after such a wonderful Con, and I needed some time to decompress!
It was lovely to meet you and Cassandra, and I hope my own post can do Sam justice. He was everything I had imagined and so much more. A true sweetie and a true gentleman.
I love the Sams Babe shirts! And totally agree about the GQ spread.
Much love to you and more from me soon!

    Maryanne,

Thank you and Hello Maryanne! It was so nice to have met you and your friends – it was a joy and a pleasure. Isn’t Kasandra lovely – it was the first time I had met her. I thought your gift was wonderful and I told him that at breakfast. I cannot wait to hear your account of the weekend – I await your story. Glad you like the Samsbabes items – they are now in the shoppe.

Steve Moyer will have to work hard at unseating Sam Trammell at this point ;-)

The moment I set eyes on him during the Sendler premier, I was immediately smitten. He is beautiful!
Apart from being a full time Billsbabe™ (and proud of it too), may I also join the throngs of Sam supporters and sign up for Samsbabes™ too Sterling?

    Join the ranks Mrs. Maestro!

I think his beauty stems from within BBB – He seems to be very interested and involved with the environment/wildlife issues. I was heartbroken when I went to his charity’s website to see/read what goes on with marine life. I concentrated on human life so much in my own charity work ( let’s not mention that here please ) that I have turned a deaf ear to animal and marine welfare and rights. More can be done.

The more the merrier BBB! Welcome to Samsbabes™ !!

Wonderful article Sterling! Sam Trammell! What a guy! He seems to have it all. Another “total package” brought to us by the wonderful Alan Ball. And I’ll bet he’s a great party buddy too. Just a hunch I’ve got. I completely agree with what you said concerning season 2. Not enough Sam time. Hopefully, season 3 will bring us much more of this wonderful actor and his love-lorn Sam Merlotte. I’m looking forward to it.

I swear I left a response before. Maybe it floated off into cyberspace. What a great guy! He seems genuinely happy to spend time with his fans. He is charming and talented, and a terrific asset to the show. I’m saving up for a shirt. Count me among the Samsbabes. Stephen first, and then Sam.

Wonderful article, Sterling. Thanks for the total package of vids, pictures and your thoughts about ST.

Sterling, I also think you have been glamoured by Sam — although how can anyone resist him! I do hope Sam has more air time this year — we barely saw him in Season 2. Thank you for such a great article — can’t wait to see what’s in store for Sam! The Samsbabe shirt is adorable too!

Sterling, you did a great job writing this up and entertaining our Sam. I agree, he deserves more attention and I’m glad to see that he’s getting some. Sam seems like such a down to earth and just plain “nice guy” which I have found true of all the True Blood actors. Go Team Sam! Thanks again Sterling for a wonderful write up.

Thanks for the report, it sounds like Sam T is a great guy for sure.
I’m fond of his character in the show, but I disagree that he was on the back burner. He was all over season 2 – it just wasn’t a very happy time for him, save that day and a half with Daphne.

Sam seems like a really down to earth and personable guy. I agree with you in that I hope they give him more air time in season 3. Love the new tee shirt!

Sterling, great recap of the weekend, you really made me feel like I was there again. All your kudos for Sam are well deserved and I as you, I wish him the best for his future.

I was there with the Billsbabes and yes, that is MY shirt in the photograph above, how cool is that? Eyecon actually afforded you lots of “time” with the actors so by the end of the weekend I think everyone knew each other on a first name basis! Like you’d be walking down the hall and oh, there is Sam or there is Ashley and eyes would meet, recognition would spark and smiles would appear! Very cool! They were all so personable and down to earth folks lucky enough to be doing what they love, and it showed.

Who couldn’t love Sam? Great write up Sterling. Obviously Sam used his puppy dog wiles on you. :) He is a pretty pup and I’d be tempted to rub his belly and scratch behind his ears. It sounds like Sam will have plenty of screen time in S3. I can not imagine anyone else as Sam Merlotte.

Thanks for the great write-up Sterling!! I agree with the posters who say that it sounds like you’ve been glamoured by the shifter!! Who knew?
But he is a terrific actor, smart, handsome, and one more exceptional asset to the show. Would love to see him doing some theater in NYC. In fact, would be great to see a True Blood stage-acting company! It seems like the Babes were very well represented in Florida. Babes rule!

Great write-up and goodies, thanks, Michael.

Sam Trammel is surely one of True Blood’s best treasures. He portrays his character with such detail and sensitivity, is it any wonder that Sam Merlotte is the touchpoint, the central player, for pretty much all the storylines?

Great recap! I love Sam Trammell, even if Sam Merlotte tried my patience in season 2 – do something, anything, please. I look forward to Sam’s journey in season 3 as he searches for his family.
