Invitation by Anthony LaPaglia

Dear fellow Australians and our American colleagues,

Anthony LaPaglia

Anthony LaPaglia

As many of you know, Bush fires that exceed any natural disaster in Australian history have devastated the State of Victoria in Australia. Entire towns and communities have been wiped out. The estimated death toll is expected to exceed 300 and there is the inestimable loss of homes, businesses and jobs. The cost of relief for the victims and rebuilding all that was lost will most likely run at $500 Million. Of course, no price can be placed on the loss of family and loved ones and the suffering caused by the loss of your community.

That’s why I’m asking the vast Australian community residing in Los Angeles to join me on February 28 for an afternoon of “Footy and Meat pies.” Hollywood United Football Club, in conjunction with our various partners and sponsors present an afternoon where you can come with your families and watch your favorite Aussie celebs and fellow professionals play a short swift 7 aside tournament against a mix of American celebs and current and former pro soccer players. Participants will include Ben Lawson, Gilles Marini, Frank LeBoeuf, Richard Gough, Donal Logue, Christian Olde Wolbers, Cameron Daddo, Dominic Purcell, Anthony LaPaglia, Michael Johns, David Lyons, Damon Herriman, Stephen Moyer, Poppy Montgomery and many more. It will be fast, fun and furious and a great afternoon for the whole family, where the LA Aussie community can join forces with the multi cultural LA American community in a show of support and relief for this terrible tragedy in our home, Australia.

The event will be held at Palisades Charter High School, 15777 Bowdoin Street, Pacific Palisades. The games will kick off at 11 a.m. To help raise funds donations will be welcomed at the gate. All money generated on the day will go directly to the relief fund. Snacks, soft drinks and meat pies will be available for purchase and raffle tickets will be sold with various signed items including signed jerseys being offered up as prizes.

Please join me and a host of fellow Aussies in this event. In this time of tragedy and pain let’s do what we’ve always done. Throw in together and show we care.

Sincerely,
Anthony LaPaglia.

double sigh… I wanna go too! ;-) I wish we would see Ryan Kwantan there as well, he is a fellow Aussie… perhaps he will just show up. I wanna see Stephen in his shorts… playing football (soccer).

In all seriousness, It does not surprise me one little bit that Stephen Moyer would participate in something like this. Gosh darn’t… he just seems like one heck of a great guy! KUDOS Stephen!

It does not surprise me that Stephen Moyer is participating in this fundraiser. We BillsBabes have seen his generousity through his participation in the Brentwood Theatre renovation. He has a big heart matched only by his enormous talent!
The fires were devastating! I pray Saturdays event is a huge success and can
begin the healing and rebuilding process. Thank you Shad for making us aware.

That is so great! And yes, as a Billbabe and a Moyerbabe as well, this really doesn’t supprise me a bit that Stephen, or Anna for that matter, would want to do something to help these poor people out.

So, are they playing real football, like American football? Or are they playing what we would concider Soccer? Either way I will be cheering for them! Did you guys see the picture of the team members on the Altsounds website? I could see Stephen he is easy to pick out, he is wearing a white shirt, and has his usual big smile and he is the only one with long dark bangs and sideburns. He is standing over towards the right, next to some guy who has his arm around SM’s shoulders.

I too, would love to be there to watch and to help out as well. Even though I do live in California, L.A. is about a 3 hour drive, give or take traffic and if there is a problem on the Grapevine, from where I live, so I don’t think I will be making the trip.

Question Shad???…….. Is there any away that the Billsbabes and fans of TB could get together as a group and donate to this worthy cause? If we can’t be there in person, maybe we can show our support by donating to it just like people have done with the Brentwood Theatre. I know they do this sort of thing over on the gb.net site for Gerard Butler all the time! What do you think?

Hopefully, this event will be a huge success, and they will be able to help many people rebuild their lives. Thanks Shad for bringing this to our attention not just because of Stephen and Anna, but, to make us all stop and think about the devastion these fires have caused this country, and it’s people. May we all take just a few minutes of our time to say a prayer for the Aussie people today.

    Moyquin!

This shows to me just how down to earth AP and SM are. They both seem like humble people who genuinely care about the outside world. That is one reason they are among my favorite actors.

Moyerbabe, judging by the hair and sideburns, It could be Stephen on that photo. But I don’t recognize anybody else, it might not be a photo if this particular group of players.

And football is what the Americans call soccer. It is called football all over the world, only the Americans had to find a different name for the game.

Unfortunately I don’t have the time to set a donation fund for the Aussie, but you are welcome to make a donation, you’ll find all the info on the HUFC website: http://www.hollywoodutd.com/news

Hi Shad! Thank you for the info for how I can be of help to the Aussie’s. And, I guess I shouldn’t have jumped to conclusions on the photo but I did catch Anthony LaPaglia kneeling in the lower left corner of the photo, and when I saw that one man I just assumed that it was SM and the present team.

Next time I will double check my info before posting something like that, not just assume.
I guess that is what makes a good reporter. Checking and double checking facts before printing them.

Anyway, thanks for clarifing that it is indeed soccer they are playing today. I kinda figured that out by all of the comments about men in shorts. Yikes, I just got a mental picture of that right now! All of those gorgeous men out there playing soccer in shorts, OMG!

Good luck guys hope you raise a boat load of money today!
