The following fashion choices are based on the comments that have been posted by fans on Twitter and Facebook. So it’s an overall judgment from social medias out there as well as a personal view too.

Audrey Fisher is True Blood’s costume Designer.

What were your favorite outfits of episode 5.07? Post about it in the comments.

#5 Russell Edgington is back!

Out of the ground, fully healed, suited in red and a hunger to burst! Praise to Lilith! Russell is ready to bite the town.

#4 Arlene the beautiful Bride

Arlene looked gorgeous in her veil and baby bump wedding dress. Such a wonderful video flash back of Arlene and Terry’s wedding day.

#3 Sookie

Sookie is faced with a choice whether she keeps her powers or over uses them so she no longer is part Faery.  Dressed in a royal blue with flowers dress and jean jacket a tough choice has to be made, thankfully Sookie chose well in the clothes department.

#2 Tara

Shaking what her mother gave her in front of her maker Tara steps out in leather and studs.  A two piece bra and bottoms with X-rated BDSM flare.  I guess Tara wants out of bartending.

#1 Pam

Sitting on her throne overlooking her subjects Pam’s progeny Tara wants out of the bar. Out to prove to her maker she can be a fantastic dancer Pam watches and waits.  Amazing crimped hair and black on black leather looking like a leader, Pam is ready to own the night.

Almost five seasons ago each of us sat in front of our screens poised and ready for the first installment of HBO’s True Blood to air.  Undeniably, the first season moved us all rhythmically and almost spiritually into the crevices of Bon Temps.  The southern accent, the southern charm all entities that became engrained into our fanatical soul and then there was this deep embedded desire that smoldered and burned after each and every episode…the desire to wear everything Pam owned! The person responsible for our obsessive cravings for Pam’s clothes and a bar tenders uniform (I know y’all love that tight white shirt with the Merlotte’s logo on it!) belongs to the brilliant creative costume designer Audrey Fisher.

Audrey has been so incredibly gracious with her time in that she has offered a little background info on some of the creative designs on offer in season five, Exciting!

Sitting at the bar eating crab and offering one of her ladies a boost of confidence a flashback of  Pam whereby we see her as the owner of a 1900s brothel, a business woman, a human.

“Kristin Bauer Van Straten and I have the best time putting together her costumes. These turn-of-the-century looks are especially dramatic on her because her figure is perfect for that wasp-waisted look, stunning!

For her first costume in the whore house, I referenced period paintings by John Singer Sargeant for some specific details, like the luscious wide burgundy ribbon tied on her arm in the first scene where she finds the dead girl. We made the first burgundy velvet corset, and found the skirt in a rental house, and added a lot of detail to it. The second costume was a rental that we did a lot cosmetic alteration on to make it suit Pam. The trick was to make her look incredible, wearing the brassiest and most alluring fashion, as a Madame in that era would have, but give her a tinge of sadness and vulnerability.”-  Audrey Fisher

A cold dark night is no night for a lady to be out on the streets on her own.  Pam’s first encounter with Vampire Eric coming to her rescue after being attacked is one that she will never forget.

“The costume she’s wearing when Eric saves Pam’s life was a total build, in doubles because of the blood; we never know how much there will be so we have to be ready to reset to clean. I found that embroidered fabric at a local fabric store, and then based the pattern on a vintage jacket of the period that we found in a costume house. There was just enough to make the capelets we needed. I made her little hat myself sitting on the floor of the fitting room one night; the gloves are custom as well.” – Audrey Fisher

A moment in time, how long have we waited to see a flash back of Pam? This scene was amazing and pivotal to the relationship between ‘Maker’ and ‘Progeny’ An exquisite, refined Eric saving the beautiful Pam on the streets of  nineteen hundred America and such a graphic first encounter that allows Eric to examine the toughness of Pam’s inner fire.

“For his first 1905 look, Alan Ball wanted Eric to look like a wealthy gentleman who had just come from the opera: top hat, frock coat, etc. Not scary, totally refined. Because of time and budgetary issues, we had to scour the costume houses to find a rental frock coat…but we refurbished it with new lapels, buttons, and cuffs, plus did major alterations. We made the incredible top hat (courtesy of Albertus Swanepoel, a dear friend who’s an incredible milliner) and Costume Coop made that dreamy, creamy double breasted vest…I love the juxtaposition of Eric’s bloody hand with the pristine vanilla of the cravat and vest.  We had to have multiples because of the blood in the scene.”- Audrey Fisher

Aroused by their first encounter Vampire Eric calls on Pam and her services.

“Then, because we had more lead time, Costume Coop built Eric’s gorgeous chocolate brown pinstripe 3 piece suit for the bordello scene. I found the perfect wool, but used it on the wrong side for a little more of a period texture and feel. We made the shirt and the cravat with matching pocket square in house. Our propmaster furnished the exquisite watch chain, fob and pocket watch. Vampire Eric as perfect gentleman”- Audrey Fisher

Steve Newlin is hell bent on having Jason Stackhouse as his own and is willing to pay Jessica for exclusive rights to such an ownership.  Jessica is not so easily detoured or in need of the cash.

“I wanted Jessica to look like a young starlet, a Vargas girl…so we went with this Free People maroon velvet corset-style crop top with sequined shoulders, and high waist dark denim jeans with beautiful platform suede pumps. A teenage queen” – Audrey Fisher

Counselor Salome is about to address the three captives; Eric, Bill and Nora.  Nora is a member of the Authority and treason will not be tolerated by the Authority it will invoke the True Death but for now Salome is content with a few slaps to Nora’s face.

“For her first appearance, I didn’t want to give away all of Salome’s power; it had to be subtle. So we went with a warm burgundy silk blouse by Joie, and a sexy tight skirt by BCBG. The Lilith symbol glints at her neck, showing nicely with the plunging neckline. The point was to cloak her power in her femininity, in true femme fatale style.” – Audrey Fisher

Dieter Braun is assigned to interrogate King Bill for treason.  The intravenous drip is laced with silver and King Bill is ready to tell all but it may not be the truth the Authority wants to hear.

“I’m a huge fan of Christopher Heyerdahl. I find his acting electrifying. Dieter was originally conceptualized with Alan Ball as a sort of mafia hit man, a little edgier and more street-wise than the other Chancellors. A real killer. But we also had an alternate concept of Dieter as a sort of as a haute German businessman, fiercely stylish and a little bit prissy, with an arch and superior intellect, sort of a vampire Karl Lagerfeld. When Christopher walked in the door, it was clear he could carry both of those elements, so we married those two concepts, and Dieter’s look was born.” – Audrey Fisher

Fangtastic Fashion Favorites – True Blood Episode 5.06

Five Fangtastic Favorites for season Five…with One being the highest Favorite.

The following fashion choices are based on the comments that have been posted by fans on Twitter and Facebook. So it’s an overall judgment from social medias out there as well as a personal view too.

What were your favorite outfits of episode 5.06? Post about it in the comments.

#5 Swoosh

Russell Edgington is found and finally order can be restored within the Authority so why not go a little less formal?  After all there are no matters of business that need to be conducted…so naturally a blue Nike Polo and pin stripe slacks.  I was surprised to see this on Roman after all the magnificent suits he wore, but I understood this wasn’t an official gathering he was amongst friends and an indicator that Bill and Eric had earned his trust.

#4 Leader of the pack

Alcide has had enough of the double standards within the pack and has come to take back his right to lead the pack.  In need of a second as he is set to challenge its current leader, murmurs of a possible loyalty change do not go unnoticed.  Wearing classic denim bootcut jeans, cotton shirt and brown leather jacket, perhaps a little too much clothing for the hot heat of an alpha wolf, it is apparent that Alcide has control over the rage and heat of the inner wolf as opposed to his rivals.

#3 Claude

Wearing nothing more than a vest, shawl and pleated pants Claude is behind the bar mixing and mingling with the locals and his fellow people of the Fae.  Perhaps in episodes to come we will see a little eye shadow and glitter around the eyes even a little eye brow plucking or lip gloss?

#2 Fairy Sister Claudette

Impressing the cliental is priority chatting with Sookie can wait.  Fairy sister Claudette entrances her onlookers with hips and lips too earthly for the imagination. Floral hipster short shorts, bra top and sleeveless crop jacket, fingerless gloves, belly chain and overflowing head piece all add to the fun fairyland fantasy.

#1 Salome

Prepared to do the will of the Guardian and restore Law and Order amongst all Vampires.  Salome welcomes Bill and Eric back with celebratory congrats.  A master of disguise with an ulterior motive this black dress with a serious plunging neckline is stunning enough to get someone killed!

Fangtastic Fashion Favorites – True Blood Episode 5.02

What were your favorite outfits in episode two? Post about it in the comments.

#5 Dieter Braun – The Vampire Bible

Dieter Braun’s debut performance left the audience gasping for air as King Bill was tortured with an intravenous drip laced with silver. Dieter’s accent and dialogue were captivating as we further learned about the ‘Vampire Bible’ and their historical link to God. Dieter dressed in tailored dress pants, a black shirt and perfectly placed jewelry made for exceptional viewing.

#4 ‘Fairytales are for Children’ – Salome

The sound of heels on concrete mixed with a deliciously devious smile, classic fashion and a fierce bitch-slap to boot the unveiling performance of Salome leaves the audience enthralled. Fairytales may be for children but a fitting knee length skirt and tailored dress shirt are fangtastic fashion necessities for badass women in the Authority. Salome’s delicate accessories and dancing curls clipped off the shoulder endorses much needed attention to her curves which are gladly examined by both male captives.

#3 ‘My Dad is King’ – Jessica

Enjoying the power of the throne and her college minions Jessica is one to watch this season with her fangtastic fashion not only complementing her sexy vixen side but also her youth. This episode Jessica is wearing tight skinny jeans, a lace embroidered tummy revealing crop top, violet suede wedge heels and a ponytail fit for cheerleading. I would kill for those shoes! Devine!

#2 1900s Pam

Recollections seldom encompass Pam but with the connection to her maker in pieces precious memories are all she has to grasp on to in the hope that the rift with Eric will pass. I am not going to lie, I was captivated from the moment she put on her lipstick and her present faded into her past life as a human. Nineteen hundreds attire is nothing short of historical elegance, where formal colors, texture and tailoring were pure genius. Audrey Fisher, head costume designer for True Blood, continues to amaze and delight us all with her tailoring genius, in a recent tweet to an excited fan Audrey states that ‘human Pam’ is adorned in a 1900s figure hugging burgundy velvet corset and vintage jet choker. The little attentions to detail were amazing and a sure statement of Audrey’s brilliance.

#1 1900s Eric Northman

Flashbacks into Eric Northman’s past were previously visited by past seasons of True Blood. A long haired Viking embellished with layers of skinned hides, that left nothing to the imagination, beguiled everyone watching. Finally, we are fortunate to see Eric Northman the Vampire in layers of couture 1900 fashion. The hat, jacket, vest, shirt and cravat are most definitely formed fitting Chic. Great work Audrey!

Five Fangtastic Favorites for season Five…with Five being the lowest and One being the highest Favorite.

The following fashion choices are based on the comments that have been posted by fans on Twitter and Facebook.  So it’s an overall judgement from social medias out there as well as a personal view too.

What were you favorite outfits on the season premiere? Post about it in the comments.

#5  ‘Love me’ Rev Steve Newlin

How good-looking was Steve in his slacks, plaid shirt and sweater? He looked like butter wouldn’t melt until he revealed those fangs! Great work Rev Newlin we definitely love having you back!

#4 ‘Cherry Bomb’ Jessica

This dress is so stunning on Jessica and according to True Blood costume designer Audrey Fisher she states in a recent tweet that the dress is Betsey Johnson. The fit is amazing, Jessica looks amazing and she is definitely coming out of her shell.

#3 ‘Red Riding Hood’ Jessica

Adorned in the most gorgeous red silk cape Jessica glides in towards Jason like Red Riding Hood, vamp style. Under the robe a dazzling one piece strapless Teddy is revealed leaving her prey spellbound by her beauty.  Jessica suits these lovely lace numbers and it is great to see her be adventurous and confident in her skin.

#2 Ravishing Rikki

With the Wolf pack on the hunt for their missing pack master new cast member Kelly Overton steps on screen in her debut performance as Rikki wearing nothing but her birthday suit.  Impressively composed with long luscious brunette locks and a strong muscular physic representative of a wolf, Overton is set to thrill us all in future episodes.  Awwoooool!

#1 ‘Walmart’ Pam

Known for nothing but impeccable taste in fashion Vampire Pam wants all the help she can get from Sookie to rectify her relationship with her maker Eric.  Pam is reduced to doing the unthinkable and wears the most hideous ‘Walmart’ sweat suit.  This is the one scene that brought a smile to every Truebie out there! Great job Audrey Fisher, Fangtastical!

One of my favorite things to see on True Blood is all the great costumes that Pam wears on the show. And, it seems that in the next episode we’ll get to see some even more interesting attire on our favorite female vampire, as we meet Pam at the turn of the century.

We have Costume Designer Audrey Fisher to thank because she chooses them all. And, she doesn’t just dress Kristin Bauer as Pam, but also the rest of the cast, too.  As a result, she gets plenty of juicy material to work with dressing the characters.

“I have to design all these incredible fantasy scenes,” she says, “and things like the beautiful turn-of-the-century outfit Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) wears in a flashback create a lot of drama and excitement and intensity in our department.”

Fisher loves dressing Pam because there is a lot of latitude in how she conceptualized the character with creator Alan Ball.

Pam’s got certain eras she really loves the designs from. She considers herself like a Barbie doll and considers her clothes like costumes. At Fangtasia we’ve had a Lara Croft outfit, a biker bitch outfit, a Barbarella outfit, a black widow outfit. It’s fun for us to come up with a theme for each outfit. … I imagine Pam has shoppers in New York, Paris and L.A. sending her cutting-edge things because she is a diva. It helps to have that imagined back story.”

Fisher describes some of her favorite Pam looks, which she finds everywhere from an L.A. store called Syren Couture and the Beverly Center to vintage places and thrift shops:

That’s a latex dress from a really wonderful store in L.A. called Syren that I work with a lot. They have an incredible line of latex fashion and designers, and this is one of their staples that I customized and added latex gloves to match. It was featured in an exhibit on the little black dress at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. It’s a very elegant dress that happens to be made out of rubber. It’s so very Pam, and getting it on is not easy. The trick is lube. You have to lube yourself up and slide into it and use lube to keep it shiny. Kristin’s figure is a dream to costume, and we have so much fun. She will put anything on and we’ll just work it out. She is pretty fearless.”

This is a Brian Lichtenberg dress. I saw these dresses in a window at the store in the Beverly Center. It’s red and glittery and one shoulder and incredible. I just immediately thought of Pam with that crazy shoulder. We call it her Lady Gaga outfit. The juxtaposition of this crazy dress in Sookie’s grandma’s house was really funny. We also used a crystal collar and cuff customized by Marianna’s Designer Jewelry to match the red of the dress. She’s got a store in downtown L.A. She’s amazing, and I’ve worked with her for years.

This is a Chanel knockoff that I found in a consignment store for when Pam is trying to be a good vampire. Pam wears an Upper East Side ladylike suit that looks very proper when she is trying to pretend, and it’s usually pink because that’s hilarious. She was being forced to do a pro-vampire ad and doing it terribly, so this was the perfect choice.

This is another Syren piece. It’s a really beautiful purple satin and black latex corset with a black latex skirt and black latex gloves. There’s a little lace 1880s-looking top underneath by a wonderful company called Heavy Red that makes beautiful corsets, steampunk (think the 2011 movie ’Sucker Punch) and goth. This outfit was designed to replicate the silhouette from the turn of the century to provide a bridge from the turn of the century look to the current look. Pam has a look that she likes and it works even 100 years later.”

“This red one is so good! It is a vintage North Beach Leather dress. North Beach is a really well-known line from the ’80s. I was a teenager in the ’80s and for me it’s such an epic look.Cindy Crawford an Christy Turlington and Claudia Schiffer all did ads. This Glamazon look is imprinted on my mind. I wanted a very special outfit for this episode — especially arch and bitchy and fabulous. I got in my head that I wanted a North Beach look, and I got it on eBay and it fit her like a glove. It was magical like Cinderella’s slipper and she looks fantastic, like Donna Mills. It’s completely over-the-top ’80s and I’m so proud to be able to rock the North Beach Leather on the show because I am such a fan. I also love her giant hair and amazing makeup. Kristin is our ‘True Blood’ Barbie doll that we get to play with.”

Lacey Terrell/HBO

One of the biggest fashion surprises was seeing Pam wearing a Wal-Mart sweatsuit.

“I am wearing a Wal-Mart sweatsuit for y’all. If that’s not a demonstration of team spirit, I don’t know what is.”

But was it really Wal-Mart the Hufftington Post asked Kristin Bauer van Straten?

“[Laughs.] Amazingly, I don’t know. We put this thing on in the fitting — we had a whole bunch to try — and we did not continue after we saw that fabulous shade of yellow. And then Audrey [Fisher, "True Blood" costume designer] dyed the pants to be slightly a different yellow than the top and shortened them so they’d be too short. It’s just genius. I can’t wait to see Wal-Mart — I’m always writing letters trying to get them to stop doing things that they shouldn’t do. [Laughs.] I have this unbelievable karma with Wal-Mart.”

EW.com asked costume designer Audrey Fisher about the already legendary outfit, who told EW via e-mail that she found the top half of the ensemble online (it’s no longer available on the site but this version comes pretty close) and then altered “the heck out of it to fit Kristin.” Fisher also said she shortened the sleeves so they seemed a little too small, though she certainly didn’t do it to make the piece look slapstick. “That costume is funny enough on its own,” says Fisher.

As for the pants, Fisher said she found a well-fitting pair at American Apparel and dyed them to match the top half. But the work didn’t stop there. Since the scene in question involved plenty of dirt (and a stunt double), she also had to create six sets of the same ensemble. As Fisher puts it, “It takes a lot of effort, it turns out, to re-create the Wal-Mart sweatshirt look.”

True Blood Jewelry Designed by Marianna Harutunian

Posted by Lynnpd On June - 6 - 2012

Have you ever wondered where all the lovely jewelry that Pam wears on True Blood comes from?

In her capacity as True Blood’s Costume Designer, Audrey Fisher combs all over searching out great looks for the cast on True Blood and she found some great jewelry made by a friend.

Marianna Harutunian is a Los Angeles based Jewelry designer, who works primarily with Swarovski Crystals and 24k gold, silver plated metals.

Every season of True Blood Marianna sits down with Audrey Fisher to discuss what she can design for the show. She has primarily designed pieces for Kristin Bauer Van Straten as Pam De Beaufort, and the Fairies, namely Queen Mab from Season 4 premiere, and the Fairy with Sheriff Andy, in which he is captivated with at the end of the Season 4 finale.

Kristin Bauer van Straten says her favorite necklace is the black choker from Season 1 and Season 3. Below are a few designs by Marianna that were used on the show:

Update: In the new edition of Entertainment Weekly, is a photo of one of the jewelry pieces designed by Marianna and worn by Kristin Bauer van Straten, see below:

We asked Marianna to answer a few questions for us about her experience of working on the show and with Audrey Fisher and Kristin Bauer van Straten:

Can you tell us a bit about how your collaboration with True Blood came about?
My collaboration with True Blood came about through knowing the costume designer Audrey Fisher. Audrey Fisher was a customer of mine, when I first opened my shop in 1999/2000. Audrey came to me, when she got the position on True Blood, wanting pieces for the show, and the rest is history. Audrey is the reason I have become apart of the True Blood family in terms of adorning some of the shows characters with my handmade jewelry. I owe so much to this talented, beautiful, and lovely lady.

Tell us about how the design process works with Audrey Fisher?
The designing process usually starts off with my having a meeting with Audrey, and her coming to me with what characters she needs pieces for. We discuss what the look and feel of the piece should be, and I then proceed to design custom samples for Audrey. Then the samples are refined till the piece is perfect and meets the needs for the character or characters on True Blood.

Is there more we can expect expect from you for season 5?
You can expect new pieces on “Pam De Beaufort” played by Kristin Bauer. I love making custom pieces for the character of Pam. The necklace from Season 1 and Season 3, Kristin has told me are her favorite pieces of mine. You can also expect new pieces for the fairies, other new characters, and a main character of whom I’ve never designed for, but can’t reveal who as of yet. All the new pieces I will comment on as they appear in the season via my Twitter.

Marianna will have new pieces on Pam, and other characters in Season 5 and True Blood Fans can buy the jewelry that she has made for the show.

She has her work shown and available in many places online. Go on over to the links below to see and purchase her work:

Meet The Department Heads: Costume Designer Audrey Fisher

Michelle Forbes dressed as the Maenad

What you’ve been up to this week:

Knee deep in fabulous costume research for Season 5! I’m getting up to speed on what’s in all the stores, making contact with all the companies that we work with, and getting in touch with the actors. But most importantly I’m prepping for a costume meeting with Alan to talk about the look of the season and get his take any exciting new characters and flashback or historical scenes with lots of costumes… That meeting provides the backbone for the start of my season in terms of costumes, and I can use all the information I get from him to move forward with all my designs.

Weirdest thing you’ve had to do for True Blood:

Feed an actress a sandwich! When Michelle Forbes was the Maenad Bride during the climax of Season 2, she was wearing her giant 3 fingered claw hands and this giant 1940s bridal gown and floral headpiece, and the poor dear was so hungry but couldn’t hold her own sandwich… so I fed her. It was very intimate.
