Posted by Lynnpd On November - 21 - 2012

A True Blood fan can own a pair of their very own True Blood boots in their size!

EJ Scott has a one of a kind auction going on EBay. A very kind man named John who makes the boots that the True Blood cast wear on the show has offered, for his auction and for EJ’s cause, Choroideremia, to donate these boots.

These are the same style of boot worn by Alexander Skarsgård and Deborah Ann Woll on True Blood!

And, that’s not all:

  • Deborah Ann Woll (Jessica from True Blood) has also offered to sign the boots when they are made.
  • Or, if you would prefer to wear the boots then Deb will sign a picture for you instead.
  • The winner will choose which version they want and what size.

HH Brown/Vintage shoe company.
The NATHANIEL boot that Alexander Skarsgård wore for most of the 5th season
The women’s MOLLY boot is the one Deborah wore to the witch war 4th season.
The auction winner will not get the actual boots, but the same version.

Hurry on over to EBay and bid: http://tinyurl.com/a4a4xr6

The money paid to win this item will go to the Choroideremia Research Foundation. Choroideremia is an eye disease that causes blindness. I have it, my brother has it and my 7 year old nephew has it. I am running 12 marathons in 12 states in 2012 BLINDFOLDED in hopes to raise awareness and funds for a treatment and eventual cure. I am trying to raise an average of $12,000 per marathon. The money from the ebay items will be going towards that goal.

10 minutes with Alexander Skarsgård

Posted by Lynnpd On November - 9 - 2012

True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgård talks to The London Evening Standard where speaks to about what he’s been doing while on hiatus from True Blood in the short 10 minute interview below:

You’ve spent the past two months shacked up with Andrea Riseborough in a bomb shelter for the film Hidden, how was that?
Intense: we were surrounded by soot, dust and ash, and living on a diet of kale salad, a bit of protein and water. I’m pretty thrilled to be in New York now, eating like a horse.

The advert you’ve done with Lara Stone for the new Calvin Klein fragrance is very sensual, did you enjoy filming it?
It was wild and very gripping. We filmed in this weird dungeon with lots of sweat and leather, so it was very sexy and film noir.

Talking of sweat and leather, you’ve been identified as a potential Christian Grey in the film version of Fifty Shades of Grey, are you flattered or offended?
Of course it’s flattering, but I haven’t even read the novels so I don’t know whether I’m interested in doing it or not. I am interested to see what the hype is about.

Which smells remind you of your childhood?
It’s not very sexy, but there was a sausage factory near my house in South Stockholm so I remember the foul smell going to school every morning. It wasn’t the smell of a nice cooked sausage.

Other than TV series such as The Bridge and The Killing, what is Scandinavia’s greatest export?
I’d have to say the pacemaker, it’s done more good for humanity.

Will people ever get tired of vampires?
I don’t know. Ask me when I’m 58 and we’ve wrapped on True Blood.

What was Lady Gaga like when you starred in her music video Paparazzi?
It was her first album and was very odd. She wasn’t the girl that people know today. I mean she was about 17, so I didn’t really know who she was, but in the video I try to push her off a balcony and she comes back to poison me. It sounded like a fun thing to do.

Alexander Skarsgård by Steve Klein

Alexander Skarsgård is, oh so cool on True Blood, but for Men’s FASHION editor-in-chief David Livingstone he sat down for a friendly chat in New York recently to discuss his fashion likes, and why he decided to sign up for the Encounter campaign.

Below is a portion of that interview:

From the flow of his voice coming from behind the door, it’s evident that Alexander Skarsgard has taken to the role of spokesmodel with guileless good cheer.

As I sit outside a New York hotel suite, waiting in line to go face to face with the face of Encounter Calvin Klein ($87, thebay.com), this fall’s major new men’s fragrance, I can’t help hearing the interview before mine and thinking that the guy is not nearly as taciturn or inscrutable as he has been in the parts that have shaped his fame.

Born in Sweden in 1976, Skarsgard rose to North American stardom in 2008 with a one-two punch. On Generation Kill, an Emmy-winning HBO miniseries about the U.S. invasion of Iraq, he played a tight-lipped Marine nicknamed Iceman. After that cameTrue Blood, the enthusiastically received HBO series (recently renewed for a sixth season) on which he plays an enigmatic vampire called Eric Northman.

When my turn comes, the man who meets me is not frosty but affable. Talk about friendly and warm! He even tells me, “I’ve had some good conversations, actually. It’s been journalists from all over the world, so that’s always fun.”

Skarsgard’s easygoing eagerness makes it impossible to begrudge his good looks. Tall, fine-featured and athletically built, he is spared from perfection only by a slight overbite, though even that has a page dedicated to it on Facebook.

As for the way he is dressed—white Calvin Klein shirt with Persol shades slung from its open neck, black Alexander Wang jeans, grey Converse high-tops—there is nothing to suggest it isn’t cool, except the way Skarsgard wears it, which is as if no thought of cool went into it.

However, Skarsgard did put thought into his decision to become a spokesmodel. “I’ve never done anything like this before. I’ve had some opportunities, but they haven’t felt right,” he says. “This one—just everything felt right about it. Calvin Klein is such a great house. I was flattered.

Another reason for Skarsgard to participate in the Encounter campaign was the team working on it. He considers creative director Fabien Baron one of the best in the world. He had worked with photographer Steven Klein before, on a shoot for Interview magazine, and “had a blast.”

The film noir style of the campaign was another motivation. “The way they pitched Encounter, it almost sounded like something out of the German Expressionist movement, like an old Fritz Lang movie like M or Metropolis.

Over at our affiliate site, Skarsgårdnews.com, there is a translation of an interview with Alexander Skarsgård from the Norwegian newspaper VG. The interview is in the October 13th issue. Occuring during the press junket at TIFF 2012, the feature focuses on non-pretty boy; roles played by Alex in recent movies as well as the cultural differences between Sweden and the U.S towards celebrities and success.

Below is a portion of the article translation.

This dark room is the perfect setting for a 1000 year old vampire. But the “True Blood” star has sunk his fangs into a home in Los Angeles.

“I wouldn’t want to end up playing ‘eyecandy’ for the rest of my life”, says Alexander Skarsgård. He sticks a fork into his omelette and eats a large piece filled with mushrooms and tomatoes. His skinny jeans hang loosely on the hips of his long body. The Swedish film star has not eaten properly in two months. “I had to look emaciated for a role”, he says, referring to the movie Hidden, which is currently filming in Vancouver. “I finally crawled out of the shelter, where I am in the first part of the movie, so now I can go out like a normal person, eat normally and get a beer.” He sends a relaxed smile around the nightclub, which doubles as a TV studio today. It’s ten in the morning. We are at the Toronto Film Festival, and out in the sun one finds lots of industry people, paparazzi, red carpets and movie stars. “I feel I have worked very hard to convince people that I have more to offer than my looks, that I am actually a good actor,” he says.

So now you will have roles where you appear “uglier”?
Yeah, I just played in two movies where I’m pretty ugly. In The East and Disconnect I have a belly and glasses.

The fifth season of the vampire series True Blood currently runs on the Norwegian channel C More. But Skarsgård has four movies coming up in 2012 and has now flown to Toronto to promote What Maisie Knew.
The film is based on an old Henry James novel. The 36-year-old plays the boyfriend of 15 years older Julianne Moore and stepfather to her six-year-old daughter. “I’m a huge fan of the book, and this was an interesting angle and an interesting version. It’s totally different than anything I have done before,” he says.

Skarsgård, who is the eldest of eight children, draws inspiration for fatherhood from his own childhood. He has six younger brothers aged 32 to 0 years and a sister at 20.
“I love being a big brother. Dad’s wife has just given birth again, so our ages are very spread out. I have some brothers I can drink beer with and some I can watch Disney movies with. It’s perfect!”

Do you want a big family yourself?
Yes, I think so. I have no children yet, but I feel very comfortable about having lots of people around me. That’s how I grew up. With high noise levels. (He smiles crookedly.) I do not like to be alone a lot. It gets so lonely.

He grew up in a Bohemian middle-class family on Söder in Stockholm. Today movie star dad Stellan is world famous; then he worked in the theater and was rarely at home to take care of his family. Last year Alexander and Stellan appeared together in Lars Von Trier’s Melancholia. Brothers Bill and Gustaf have chosen to follow in their father’s footsteps as well.

Is there competition between you and your brothers?
No. I feel that we support each other. They know I’m having fun and get to work with interesting projects and great actors. When they see that I’m happy, they are happy for me.

Gustaf has a role in Kon-Tiki. Could you imagine working on a Norwegian film?
(He stretches his back and reaches for a strawberry.) Yes, absolutely. But it’s not about working in Norway or in the USA.It’s about the directors and the other actors, and to find a role that is interesting.

Is it easier for you to date someone who is in the industry?
(He considers this, t-shirt hanging loosely over tight chest muscles, a thin silver necklace disappears down the shirt). It is not that important. What matters is that she can handle that part of my life. My mom was not in the same industry as my dad when we were growing up. They are separated now, but they were together for 35 years. She understood him, his profession and lifestyle. She understood that he was a celebrity, and she was a balance to that, although he also tried to protect the family by keeping us out of the limelight. So yes, it’s important to be with someone who understands what it entails.

What do you look for in a dream woman?
Humor is important. She shouldn’t take herself too seriously, and she has to be able to laugh at herself. That is the most important.

Do you think it’s difficult for beautiful girls to be taken seriously in Hollywood?
Yes. It is even more difficult than for men. They end up as the hot girlfriend or wife in every movie – and the roles are usually not particularly exciting.

True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgård is interviewed in the video below by Editor-in-Chief Elliot Kotek and his “What Maisie Knew” co-star Onata Aprile at AFCI’s Beyond Cinema Studio at the Toronto International Film Festival.

It’s nice to see Alexander’s interaction with the child actress.  They obviously are good friends after the filming.
