Godric wasn’t around for long, but he apparently made quite the impression, easily taking home this win.

Best Death Scene: Godric (Allan Hyde) True Blood
This was a very tight race between the sweet True Blood vampire, Jack Shephard on Lost and Sun and Jin’s underwater demise, but the vamp seeing the light squeaked out a narrow victory.

Now that Kristin Bauer as Pam has been made a permanent part of the cast, I’m sure she won’t be up for this award in the future.

Norwegian Interview with Allan Hyde

Posted by Shadaliza On July - 19 - 2010

AlanHydenews.com has translated a Norwegian interview with True Blood’s Alan Hyde and part of that interview that pertains to True Blood is below:

Dagbladet2 Norwegian Interview with Allan HydeFortunately, the “True Blood” star Allan Hyde (20) won’t be using the fangs in his new Norwegian film.

(Dagbladet): Vampires are everywhere. The “Twilight” movies are taking over movie theaters and the steamy southern vampire series “True Blood” does the same on television.

Something that fits Allan Hyde perfectly.

With a central role in the second season of what has become the major new television hit, the Danish 20-year-old got his big international breakthrough.

But the acting life as an immortal bloodsucker is not easy.

For example, he says fangs have unforeseen challenges.

They take a lot of space in your mouth and makes it difficult to speak. You feel very raw and badass when you put them in, but then you begin to lisp and lose intensity completely. It requires some training,” Hyde told Dagbladet.

Making a Comeback

In “True Blood”, Hyde plays the role of Godric, the nation’s most powerful vampire. The character died at the end of the second season, but still shows up in the third season, which is now broadcast in the United States.

It is exciting to work in these kinds of huge productions. As an actor you can find out quickly that it requires something else from you when it’s all about effects rather than dialogue. It is difficult to discuss character development – you should only do what you’re told because they know what they are doing and will make sense in the finished product.

In the series, Godric is a repentant vampire, seeking reconciliation with people. Hyde sees much of himself in the character.

He has realized that his deeds as a vampire have not been good. The murders and rapes he committed cannot be excused. He has had a revelation. I have also been involved with bullying in my youth. Of course it was not as serious as that, but the feeling is the same.

True-blood.org’s interview with Allan Hyde

Posted by Lynnpd On July - 1 - 2010

True-blood.org got an exclusive interview with Allan Hyde, True Blood’d Godric, and below is a few excerpts from that interview:

allanhyde1 True blood.orgs interview with Allan Hyde

Mr. Hyde, we all know you as Godric – the oldest vampire of North America. So first of all we would like to know: How have you prepared yourself for the role as a 2000 years old vampire?

ALLAN: It’s hard because no one can possibly imitate or even imagine how much knowledge someone that old has with all those experiences. So my approach was more of how to make people believe you were that old. I looked at how the elderly react and interact with other people – they ooze a calm confidence without forcing anything on anyone – they will set an example and expect it to be followed. Also in order to have an aura of the incredible authority I decided to play everything down. Never really let him raise his voice because he doesn’t have to.

Did you already know either the show of True Blood or the books by Charlaine Harris, at the time you were casted for the role as Godric?

ALLAN: When I got cast I did not know anything at all. I did do my research as soon as things were looking as if stuff might happen and was astounded of how huge the project and phenomenon was and still is.

With a heavy heart we had to accept the suicide of Godric and now can only admire him within the shown flashbacks. Can you understand that Godric has chosen the suicide and what is your general opinion to that subject?

ALLAN: I understand him. He has lived his share of life and a second life. He is over it. He wants to set an example and does everything for a good reason I feel. It is hard to validate suicide though because of other people involved. It’s a selfish thing to do and Godric hurts people and who knows what’s to be of Eric now without an ideal?

Allan Hyde: True Blood is exciting, scary and sexy

Posted by Shadaliza On June - 20 - 2010

In a recent interview with StarryMag.com Allan Hyde speaks about his role of Godric in the new season of True Blood.

allanhyde Allan Hyde: True Blood is exciting, scary and sexyQ) What are the recent projects that you are working on?

A) I am doing the new season of “True Blood.” I have a little bit there in some flashbacks. I’ve been going out for stuff, too and finding the right pilot for the next project. I’ve also been playing around with my own projects, writing a little bit and editing a short I did in August that we just finished up and posted on YouTube. Then, I’m going back to Denmark in a few months to do four episodes of a Danish TV show. I just finished a music video with a Norwegian artist and we’re trying to get as many views as possible on the Internet.

Q) What is new this season on “True Blood” and can you tell us a bit about your flashback scenes of Godric?

A) Everything is as intense and exciting as they were last season. I am sure the fans will be excited with what is happening. The characters they really like are getting attention and you see a lot of them blossom. You get to know them better and better and their secrets more. I can’t say anything specific about the flashbacks of Godric. For myself, Godric is a great way of seeing what it is like during the different stages of the vampire life. In the second season, we see him at 1,000 years old when he lived in the wilderness and turned Eric (Alexander Skarsgard). We also saw the contemporary Godric and two polar opposites of the character. We saw him very beastlike and very humanlike.

Q) What made you want to be a part of the show?

A) I came from Denmark and I got the show when I was in Denmark. I didn’t even know what the show was, but it was a huge step and a huge adventure. It was right after I finished high school and in Denmark you take a year or two between high school and university. So, I was ready to do anything and this was a great opportunity for me to do something that I would never have thought of doing. I just embraced that and accepted the part. I knew that it was a part on “True Blood” and I did all my homework on the show.

Here’s a very creative video starring True Blood’s Allan Hyde with a lot of Iphones.  We know how he got to the 20% battery life, but man those Iphones and getting the story to synchronize, wow!  Great Job.

This is the Official music video for “Over You” by Thom Hell, starring Allan Hyde as the guy wandering around in a world of Iphones. One take, as usual.

Interview with Vampire Godric

Posted by Lynnpd On May - 22 - 2010

Allan Hyde talks about filming the TV series “True Blood”, hanging out with celebrities and how it is to be part of an American super success.

godric1wpsm 600x375 Interview with Vampire Godric

Recently Allan Hyde was on the TV screen in “True Blood” as the 2000 year old tattooed vampire Godric, one of the lead roles in the second season of the popular series. For the 20 year old actor it was a great experience to be involved in filming in Hollywood, even though it was overwhelming while it was underway.

The requirements are very different there than at home where it is normal for actors to work closely with the director about their role. On “True Blood”, it was expected that you develop it yourself.

“I had to play a major role, as people had high expectations of an huge American series, and I got no help- no one to blame if things went wrong. So to give myself a little peace of mind I wrote a long email to the writer Alan Ball where I mapped my thoughts in terms of Godric and asked for advice a couple of places. Just to see if I was on track. It was me, ” says Allan Hyde to Tjektv from the U.S.

Although it was unrelenting work for everyone, and nerves became frayed, both actors and crew were incredibly responsive to Allan Hyde’s surprise, he had feared that the well-known actors would feel better than the rest of the team, but this was not the case.

“Everyone joked and had fun, talked about personal things and gave good advice. If I have to mention specific people I hung out with, it will be Lenny, my stand-in, but also Alexander Skarsgård, Mariana Klaveno, Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin. Actually all of them I had scenes with,” says Allan Hyde to Tjektv.

“True Blood” is a major phenomenon in the U.S. Each episode is seen by over five million viewers and it is the most successful HBO series since the “Sopranos.”

“People are obsessed with it. So everybody knows what it is and who the actors are. It’s strange to be recognized on the street in a country where people still feel like a stranger,” says Allan Hyde, who is on the way to Denmark to join in a few episodes of the next season of “Lærkevej.” And so he hopes, of course, to find new roles in the U.S.

Trivia:

Allan Hyde is even crazy about the TV series, notably “Clown”, he is huge fan of Casper Christensen

Also the series “Dexter,” “Californication,” “Entourage,” “Six Feet Under” and “30 Rock” are high on the lists. They are all seen from start to finish.
