Camilla Luddington Brings Lara Croft to Life in Tomb Raider Game

At Comic Con last week, Camilla Luddington, who plays Claudette on True Blood, promoted her new part playing the part of Lara Croft in the Tomb Rader reboot video game.
In the case of the Square Enix Tomb Raider reboot, gamers have to wait until March 5, 2013 to check out the new adventure for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 where she will bring the iconic Lara Croft to life in this original story.
Camilla, a life-long gamer, donned a motion capture suit and provided both the performance and voice for the new Lara Croft adventure. In the video below, the actress talks about this virtual role of Lara Croft taken at the Wired Café at Comic-Con.

Camilla Luddington to Play Lara Croft in ‘Tomb Raider’ Video Game

True Blood’s Claudette, Camilla Luddington has been named as the actor who plays Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider video game.
The 29-year-old English-born actor joins Angelina Jolie, Minnie Driver and Keeley Hawes, who have all portrayed the British adventurer in various forms in the past.
Luddington’s most recent work includes playing another well-known British figure – the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton – in the made-for-TV film William & Kate.
She has also starred with David Duchovny in the Showtime series Californication, and is scheduled to appear in the upcoming fifth season of HBO’s True Blood.
Besides doing the voiceover work for the new game, Luddington is also doing all the motion-capture for the character – making her the first performer to lend both vocal talents and body shape to Lara Croft.
Luddington was chosen after an international search by the game’s developer, Crystal Dynamics, which is positioning the new game as a reboot of the franchise.
The new Tomb Raider game serves as an origin story for 21-year-old Croft, in which she is shipwrecked on a remote tropical island and has to fight for survival against the elements and a group of murderous aggressors.
Crystal Dynamics said Luddington had convinced them that she could deliver both the emotional depth and youthful tone they sought for the character.
“This has been one of the most important jobs for us to get right,” said Darrell Gallagher, studio head of Crystal Dynamics. “This Tomb Raider game is very different to any other and we are demanding far more from the voice acting than ever before.”
The new game, which is due for release in March 2013, is a good deal grittier and darker in tone than previous entries in the Tomb Raider franchise.
Recent demos of the game at the E3 2012 games convention in Los Angeles sparked controversy when it was revealed that one of Lara Croft’s would-be assailants tries to sexually assault her before she kills him.

Camilla Luddington Hint’s How In Season 5 “Fairies Are Re-Vamped”

Camilla Luddington will play the fairy, Claudette (sister of the now dead Claudine) in Season 5 of True Blood. She says that Season 5 will teach viewers ‘more about what it means to be a fairy.’
She hints that not only will fairies play a major part in the new season this June, but HollywoodLife.com has learned “they’re not like they were in any previous season.”
“It’s so incredible,” newbie fairy Camilla Luddington says. ”I remember getting to set and being really blown away by what they’ve done this season, especially with the fairies. … I’m excited for people to see the re-vamped version of the fairies.”
Claudette is related to Sookie since sister Claudine served as Sookie’s (Anna Paquin) fairy godmother before she was attacked and drained by an amnesic Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard).
Though Camilla can’t say too much about how the fairies have been altered, she can reveal that Claudette works closely with Sookie and Jason (Ryan Kwanten). Is it possible Jason will be getting in touch with his fairy side this season too? Camilla says the audience will “learn more about what it means to be a fairy” in season five, so anything’s possible!
As for her own fairy powers, Camilla says she’s been having a blast — awful pun intended — figuring out the ins-and-outs of Claudette’s magical abilities.
“So far, all I have is that big — I don’t even know what to call it – the light that comes out of my hand,” she says. “I’ve gotten to use that, which was actually very exciting. They’re very specific about how you use your hand to execute that light. I was just kind of lifting my hands up, and they were like, ‘No, you’re not going to get any light out of that.’ So I had light practice.”
But hey, practice makes perfect!
“Between rehearsals, I definitely had a go of it in the mirror — and I’m sure I looked absolutely ridiculous,” Camilla admits. “But I had fun trying. I was like, ‘I have the weirdest job in the world.’”

A new sister for Claude on True Blood: meet Claudette

It appears that Claudine wasn’t Claude’s only sister. Meet Claudette portrayed by Camilla Luddington. The native Brit is True Blood’s latest recurring as one of Claude’s many sisters who gives Sookie insight into what it means to be a faerie.
Luddington portrayed Kate Middleton in the Lifetime movie William and Kate and recently did a nine-episode on Showtime’s Californication, which wraps up a week from Sunday.
