Kristin Bauer Talks About the Evolution of Pam

Posted by Lynnpd On June - 8 - 2013

true-blood-pam-tv-fashion-5-hbo-325True Blood’s Pam, Kristin Bauer van Straten, left off at the end of True Blood Season 5 with a scene where she and her progeny, Tara pretty much launched their bi-sexual relationship. Below in a portion of an interview with Metro US, Kristin talks about this new relationship, that she is definitely Team Eric and provides some hints about what we can expect in True Blood Season 6.

What can you tell me about what’s going on with Pam this season, without revealing any spoilers?
That’s always the challenge isn’t it? We’ve been shooting such long hours all week that I’ve got to get caught up on the trailers so I know what they reveal. I think it’s safe to say there is a human-vampire conflict that’s escalated from what the Authority did last year. And that, of course, causes problems for Pam. So she’s trying to figure out her relationship with her new baby/lover, you know, Rutina (Wesley, who plays Tara). And she’s just reunited with her Maker, she wasn’t sure if he was alive. And then, on top of it, the humans are fighting back.

So it’s safe to say that things are pretty complicated?
Things are a little intense.

When the show first started, did you know that Pam was going to become such a big part of the show?
I definitely did not. Yeah, that was a really lovely surprise because, when I auditioned, they said that it was a guest starring role, possibly recurring. And first season, once Alex (Skarsgård) and I started they kept calling us back. But Season 2, there wasn’t as much Pam. So all of a sudden when Season 3 came around and they started adding quite a bit more Pam, that was a lovely surprise because I love the role and I also love the people I’m working with. We have so much fun. They’re very, very fun people. The hours are long so it makes a huge difference.

Pam is actually one of my favorite characters on the show, and her character has really evolved. She was straight-up evil in the beginning, but now they’re revealing a lot more layers to the characters. Do you think she’s more good than bad?
I don’t know if it is a bad sign, or if I’m becoming sort of delusional, but I don’t know if she’s good or evil — but she’s definitely…correct. I feel like what she says, we’re all thinking. You know, she only kills bad people. I feel like she’s a little bit of the person we all wish we could be, but we wouldn’t be able to maintain jobs and friends. (laughs). And Pam is lucky enough to have stepped out of, on purpose, all of those concerns. And, you know, to be top of the food chain, she doesn’t have to worry about liking anybody or vice-versa, people liking her especially. I just think it’s really refreshing.

To steal a “Twilight” thing, are you Team Bill or Team Eric?
There’s just no way for me to separate myself completely from the character, I just have to be Team Eric.

I’m Team Eric too, but maybe I just think he’s cuter. But I do like Bill.
I like Bill too, and I certainly like how Pam makes fun of Bill.

Interview with True Blood’s Wiccan Lauren Bowles

Posted by Lynnpd On June - 8 - 2013

laurenbowles1Lauren Bowles, who plays the Merlotte’s waitress, Holly on True Blood was recently interview by Dame Magazine. Below are portions of her interview with the magazine that pertain to True Blood:

Holly, the waitress you play on True Blood, is a witch. Do you have any personal experience with Wicca?
I’ve never been a practicing Wiccan myself, but from all the research that I’ve done, I’ve learned that it’s really just a religion, a beautiful one that worships the sacred, divine goddess. Which I can very much relate to as a cliché yogi, herb-takin’ kind of a girl.

You have done a lot of TV work, from Seinfeld to CSI. Did you intuitively know that the opportunities were in television?
Certainly it’s what took me out here, and the old modality of television is going the way of the dodo bird. All these incredible directors are coming to cable and Netflix. Did you see Liberace? It’s fantastic! Ultimately artists want to be funded and then left alone and that’s almost impossible in big studio movies or big network television because you’ve just got so many cooks in the kitchen. With True Blood, I auditioned for Alan [Ball] for Season 3, and by the time I drove home I had gotten the part. That only could happen because it was cable or HBO. It’s much more the auteur’s medium.

Stephen Moyer EvidenceThe film, starring Stephen Moyer, will have a limited theatrical release in the USA on July 19th, but “Evidence” is now available for pre-order on Amazon.com. The DVD and BluRay will hit the shelves on August 20th.

This horror flick is not for the faint of heart!

Detectives Burquez (Radha Mitchell, Silent Hill) and Reese (Stephen Moyer, True Blood) are desperately hunting for answers as to why five people were brutally murdered at an abandoned gas station in the middle of the desert. The only evidence they have is captured video footage found on the victims’ cameras and cell phones. As the mystery unfolds, it becomes chillingly clear that the killer is taunting the investigators, and the only way to end this bloody reign of terror is to decipher the deadly puzzle before he kills again.

Alexander Skarsgård “Knockout At Fortune Gym

Posted by Lynnpd On June - 5 - 2013

An article about Alexander Skarsgård has just been published at wwm.com (Women’s Wear Daily) and there are some great photos that go along with it. The article with accompanying photos is titled “Knockout at Fortune Gym.” Below is a portion of the article by Jim Windolf that pertains to Alex and True Blood that focuses on the differences between the man and the character of Eric he plays on the show. Also below are photos from the article.

“True Blood capitalizes on his brooding, mysterious quality, but in real life Alex is very sweet and thoughtful and even kind of boyish. At festivals or when we’re out socially, I watch as he spends his time taking pictures with these middle-aged housewives and grannies. It’s little things like him bending at the knees, not to dwarf them in pictures. It reminds me of what I’ve read about James Dean, how respectful he was around women, which is a contradiction, because he was such a handsome boy. In a similar way, Alex doesn’t act like a handsome lady-killer. He’s very respectful, and that’s something you wouldn’t expect, because women find him to be a sex symbol, and he’s got these screaming True Blood fans. But he doesn’t exploit or even take advantage of his looks, and I think that’s telling.

He has never said this to me, but I imagine he is tired of playing a vampire and wants to explore different sides of himself. I think, in the past, he has been underestimated, which is a great place to be, because then you can blow people away.”

Posted by Lynnpd On June - 4 - 2013

Alexander Skarsgård has been a busy boy this past year with 3 movies in the theaters (Disconnect, What Maisie Knew, The East), and True Blood starting on June 16th,  he’s been all over the news.  From what we can see, it looks like he’s been choosing the right films and we’re all excited to see him tomorrow night when he appears on CONAN OBRIEN.

Alexander will be appearing on the June 5th episode of Conan, which airs 11 pm eastern on TBS.

And for those of you who are GOT fans, writer, George R. R. Martin will also be appearing.  Maybe they will ask him about the infamous “Red Wedding” we saw in this week’s episode. Also appearing is the folkgroup, Houndmouth.
