True Blood’s Jason, Ryan Kwanten has a new film called, “Mystery Road” which will open the Sydney Film Festival on June 5, 2013. The film is written, directed, shot and scored by multi-awarded Aboriginal Director Ivan Sen and tells the story of a policeman, played by Aaron Pederson, who has returned to his remote hometown in the outback to investigate the murder of a teenage Aboriginal girl.
The film’s star line-up includes Jack Thompson, Ryan Kwanten, Tasma Walton, Damian Walshe Howling and Hugo Weaving, who also plays a policeman in the small town. Aaron Pedersen has the lead role of an indigenous detective who returns home to an Outback town to solve the murder of a teenage indigenous girl. Ryan Kwanten plays a pig hunter and Jack Thompson is a pastoralist who’s seen better times. The cast also includes Tony Barry, Tasma Walton, Damian Walshe-Howling, David Field and newcomers Trisha Whitton and Siobhan Binge.
“It has conventions of the western, the thriller, elements of murder, mystery, but he used that and made a thrilling exciting film that takes a look at the social political context,” says Ms Moody.

True Blood’s Ryan Kwanten attended the 2013 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner April 27, 2013. While there, Ryan chatted a little True Blood Season 6 with Fox News. A little is an understatement, since he doesn’t really reveal much, but it’s good to see Ryan out and about and praising the show.

Ryan Kwanten, representing True Blood, attended the White House Correspondents Dinner in Washington, DC. Normally, there is a larger representation from True Blood at the annual Dinner, with Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer also attending, but this year it looks like Ryan was the only one to attend on April 27, 2013 in Washington, DC. Perhaps the newborns kept the True Blood couple from joining Ryan. Sam Trammell was also reported to have attended, but since he was at an event yesterday in Los Angeles, that was an error.

Those in the True Blood family are generous to a fault and Ryan Kwanten is no exception. For charity, Ryan is auctioning off a unique product: a real, lab-grown personal diamond made from human hair.
The diamond is fashioned into a beautiful pendant, which acts as symbol of her endurance. Ryan has collaborated with SKY and LIVI to create the unique blue diamond pendant utilizing his hair. The pendant necklace is valued at more than $16,000.00, and will be auctioned off for charity.
Ryan says: “My friend Anjanette started SKY and LIVI to help women cope with hair loss due to chemo. I know first hand how traumatic this moment is, as my mother is a breast cancer survivor and lost her hair during treatment. I think it is empowering for women to make a diamond from their hair, so I’m donating my hair to create a diamond in honor of my mother – to honor her strength and to celebrate her life. We’re auctioning off the diamond through Charitybuzz to help raise money and awareness for the charity Look Good Feel Better.”

Over a Spoiler chat, there’s a small bit of news about True Blood’s Season 6 from Ryan Kwanten. I’m a bit worried about the deaths he speaks of, but glad to see that Season 6 seems to be “getting back to basics.”

He’s probably doing sit-ups somewhere. God bless him. But for real, we did just chat with him about the new season of True Blood, and he delivered some harrowing news. “There are more deaths,” he tells us. “Some favorite characters may not last.” We did not like that piece of scoop (don’t you dare touch Lafayette, TB writers!), but we did like it when Kwanten said that the show was getting back to the supernatural elements and madness that it’s famous for.
I wonder what “favorite character” might go this season? Any ideas? Leave us a comment below about who you think it might be.
