True Blood Cast Interviews at Comic Con 2012

Michael Ausiello ( talks to several of the cast including Alan Ball, Joe Manganiello, Kristin Bauer van Straten and Deborah Ann Woll at Comic Con 2012.

Alan Ball’s Last Comic Con as Showrunner

Posted by Lynnpd On July - 15 - 2012

Yesterday at Comic Con 2012 we saw the last True Blood Panel for Alan Ball as the Showrunner. He was especially candid during the event and even did a body roll, like Alcide in Magic Mike, on top of his chair. Joe Manganiello promptly got up and threw some cash at him.

Below we see Alan stand on a chair as he rolls his belly as Stephen Moyer, Anna Paquin and moderator Tim Stack, right, look on during the event.

It was heartwarming to see the cast and all of the audience bow to him for his genius as creator of  the show. Many members of the cast rose up to applaud the man who brought Charlaine Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse novels to graphic life for five seasons and is now stepping down from his top post.

Aside from that emotional moment, though, the tenor of the panel was high-spirited and even silly with many, many references to romance, nudity, sex and stripping, the latter courtesy of Joe Manganiello’s recent cinematic turn as a male dancer named Big Dick Richie in Steven Soderbergh’s film “Magic Mike.”

At the end of the panel, the cast applauded the audience. They also took their name plates, signed them and threw them out into the crowd of  fans who had flocked to the stage hoping for a closer glimpse.

We’ll be providing more info about the experience of attending the huge event that Comic Con is, so look for more info coming soon!

Ryan Kwanten Does A Handstand At Comic Con 2012

Posted by Lynnpd On July - 15 - 2012

I attended the True Blood Panel at Comic Con 2012 yesterday, and I have to say it was the best True Blood Panel at Comic Con ever, in my opinion. There were many delightful and meaningful moments when the cast were all on stage and we’ll have lots more to share with you about the event real soon. However, here’s a few photos I took from one of those many great moments during the panel when Ryan Kwanten showed his gymnastic talents.

Ryan performed a handstand for the audience. He not only did it successfully, but once on his hands, he walked across the stage. Ryan was reluctant to do it at first, but the audience cheered him on making it almost impossible for him to refust.  Thanks to Ryan for being such a good sport!

Below are some photos of Ryan’s now famous handstand.

Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skarsgård, Sam Trammell, Kristin Bauer, Janina Gavankar and Joe Manganiello hit several Comic Con parties last night in San Diego. They were seen at the Playboy and True Blood Party and the EW Party and the HBO Celebrates “Game Of Thrones” At WIRED Cafe.

True Blood Comic Con EW live blogging and interviews

Posted by Shadaliza On July - 15 - 2012

EW blogged live during the panel. Here are a few highlights.

4:38 p.m. Ball introduces a trailer of “sneak peeks of things to come.” What’s in it? Sookie’s inner-faerie comes out. Tara is stripping in tight black leather. Russell busts through a curtain and has a meal or two … or three. Someone throws Pam across the bar. Russell and Eric go at it. Bill gets a big, big bite out of Sookie in bed. Yowza.

4:39 p.m. Panel is introduced. Joe Manganiello (be still, female hearts), Ryan Kwanten, Deborah Ann Woll, Sam Trammel, Rutina Wesley, Christopher Meloni (wearing a funny green cap), Alex Skarsgard (ooh, the women go wild), Kristin Bauer von Straten, Stephen Moyer, Anna Paquin (rubbing her very pregnant belly), and Ball.

4:42 p.m. Moderator (and EW staffer) Tim Stack asks if the cast has a beef with Vampire Diaries, which did its panel earlier in the day in Ballroom 20. Moyer: “We don’t talk about them.”

4:43 p.m. Wesley says she enjoys working with Woll and “playing with someone you haven’t played with in years.” Paquin gets a shout-out for playing drunk well.

4:44 p.m. Moyer tells Skarsgard he looks good in his black T-shirt. (They’re playing up that bromance we’ve seen this season). “We’ve had a little too much fun together and its been four years of us fighting over Sookie. There’s like a Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid,” says Skarsgard. Moyer adds, “We have to join together so animosity aside, I felt like when we work together, there is something between us in the past that we haven’t seen yet, like an old friendship.”

4:48 p.m. Time to address Pam’s wardrobe! “I see a Walmart sweatsuit in the front row,” says Von Straten of a group of costumed fans. She talks about the day it was picked out for her. ”There was a rack of Walmart sweatsuits and we start with a yellow one and we say, I don’t think we have to try on anything else.” Meanwhile, Tara has discovered her boobs while stripping! Is she discovering her leathery side, too? “Pam went up to Tara and made me up,” Wesley explained. “My mother called me and said `that bustier!’ It’s been fun to have the fangs out.”

To the fans closer to the Comic-Con events of the days ahead HBO has arranged for talent from their shows to act as social media correspondents throughout the event.

HBO’s Sabrina Caluori explains:

We’ve created some really cool ways for fans to go behind the scenes at Comic-Con this year through our social TV site, HBO Connect. We wanted to give everyone, even those not attending “the Con,” a way to get in on the HBO activities there and share in the fun.

Celebrity correspondents from Game of Thrones and True Blood will be walking the floor at Comic-Con, tweeting about their interactions with the fans, taking photos and doing giveaways. For Game of Thrones, Kristian Nairn who plays “Hodor,” will tweet from the floor on Friday, July 13 here. For True Blood, Janina Gavankar who plays “Luna” will tweet from the floor on Saturday here.

HBO will live-tweet throughout the Game of Thrones and True Blood panels at @GameofThrones and @TrueBloodhbo respectively, providing a play by play for fans following on HBO Connect.

Also on Saturday, July 14, HBO Connect will give True Blood fans the opportunity to “flock to unlock” the exclusive Comic-Con trailer. If fans tweet #sdcctruebie 150,000 times, HBO will unlock the trailer on HBO Connect.
