Blood Work! True Blood vlog True Blood 5.12 – Save Yourself

Posted by Shadaliza On September - 11 - 2012

Finally, we get Andy and Brian’s recap of the finale Episode of True Blood Season 5. Some say the world will end in fire, others in ice. If this season’s Blood Work! finale is any indication, both might be a little bit right – because the signature cocktail of The Rapture is officially CAJUN MARGARITAS.

Brian and Andy from CampBlood.org deliver a jalapeno-laced critical wrap-up of The Authoritaay’s swan song, multiple fairy births, hot ghost dads, and of course the 300 pound bloody merkin in the room: Bilith. Plus, the winners of this year’s giveaway! (Yes, that’s a plural.) Enjoy!

Why Didn’t Sookie & Alcide “Do It” in Season 5?

Posted by Lynnpd On September - 6 - 2012

Early in Season 5, it sure looked like Sookie and Alcide would “get it on,” however just as we thought we would get to see the much talked about scene between the two, it didn’t happen.  Not only was Sookie not able to continue as she had a slight accident because of all the drinking she did that night, but Eric and Bill made an appearance just as at that moment.

Now, TVLine has asked Alan Ball about it and here’s what he said:

“The decision to not do it this season [came about because] every single season, it’s been all about Sookie falling in love with this person or that person,” exiting showrunner Alan Ball tells TVLine. “It seemed like she had enough on her plate this season to not just [say], ‘Okay, now Sookie’s gonna fall in love with Alcide!’”

So that’s… it? The wolfman covers up his ex-girlfriend’s murder for her, she pukes on him, and that’s… it?

“No, no, no, Ball is quick to reassure.  That doesn’t mean that that door is closed,” he insists. Or at least it isn’t locked. “All of these supernatural guys in town carry a big torch for Sookie – even Eric, who doesn’t want to admit it.”

Top 5 WTF Moments of True Blood Episode 5.12

Posted by Kelly Valentine On August - 30 - 2012

This is our selection of the top 5 WTF moments of True Blood episode 5.12 – Save Yourself.

What were your best WTF moments? Post about it in the comments.

In order of appearance:

Alcide’s the new pack master
Martha brings Rikki to Alcide for help. JD is forcing the pack to drink vampire blood. Rikki is in bad shape and Martha thinks she’s overdosed on V. Once she is feeling better, Rikki tells Alcide about the terrible things JD is doing to the younger girls. Alcide drinks vampire blood so taking on JD will be an even fight. With the element of surprise on his side Alcide gets the jump on him. The V pumping in his veins sends him into a rage. Alcide beats JD senseless then breaks his neck. The other pack members bow to their new leader.

Sam kills Rosalyn
Shifting into a fly Sam makes his way around Authority headquarters. Discovering Steve Newlin’s bedroom he forms a plan to save Emma. A mother will do anything to save their child even if it means she suffers in the process. Luna shifts into Steve and frees Emma from her cell. The plan gets sidetracked when Rosalyn makes Steve/Luna do a live broadcast to explain why he and Russell were at the frat house where all the members were killed. During the broadcast Luna begins coughing up blood and shifts back. Rosalyn is furious. Before she can attack Luna Sam shifts into a fly and flies into her mouth. Still inside her he shifts back causing her to explode. I couldn’t believe my eyes. That was the most creative way to kill someone that I’ve ever seen.

No more mister nice guy
Sookie agrees to help Eric save Bill, Jessica and Pam. Jason goes along. Since finding out vampires killed his parents, Jason he despises them. On the way to the Authority he and Sookie stop to load up on vampire killing weapons. Once inside Jason starts shooting anything with fangs. As soon as Jessica sees Jason she tells him she loves him. He immediately shoots her down. She is crushed when Jason tells her he can never love a vampire. Jason is a changed man. The pain vampires have caused him seems to have hardened his heart.

Andy’s a single dad
Faerie child birth is a lot different than ours. While at Merlotte’s Maurella goes into labor. Holly’s got a good heart. She just learned that Andy cheated on her twice and got Maurella pregnant. Now she’s delivering the babies. After effortlessly giving birth to four babies Maurella wishes Andy good luck and leaves him to raise four newborns on his own. WTF? Who does that? Poor Andy, how is he supposed to raise four babies by himself and keep the residents of Bon Temps safe? Maybe Holly will have pity on Andy and help him.

Bill’s the new Lilith
Despite Sookie and Eric’s best efforts they couldn’t convince Bill that he was making the wrong choice. His mind was made up. Bill believed he was chosen to be the new leader and nothing was going to stop him. After drinking the entire vial of Lilith’s blood Bill exploded leaving nothing but a puddle on the floor. Sookie and Eric watch the liquefied puddle of what was Bill begin to move. A regenerated blood soaked Bill forms before their eyes. WTF? Will Stephen have to spend the entire next season walking around naked? I wouldn’t think so. Lilith was naked for the same reason Adam and Eve were in the beginning. Before Eve sinned man didn’t realize they were unclothed and had no need to be covered. According to the vampire bible Lilith came before Eve so she lived in Eden before there was sin.

Post Mortem of True Blood Season 5 with Alan Ball

Posted by Lynnpd On August - 26 - 2012

This final episode of True Blood was written by none other than Alan Ball and is his last episode as showrunner. Alan spoke to TVLine about the season and also provided a sneak peek at Season 6!

TVLINE | So, is Bill God now?
I don’t want to say if he is or he isn’t. Who’s to say what Lilith really is? He is still Bill but he is something different.

TVLINE | So there is some of the old Bill in there?
It is Bill, but it is a transformed Bill. He is not a completely new person. It’s not like his memories or his experiences have been left out and he’s just a baby.

TVLINE | Can he revert back to the old Bill?
Well, that’s the question: Is he going to be evil? What does he want? What is he going to do? Will he be able to revert back to Bill? That’s for future seasons. The implication, certainly, is that he is more ferocious.

TVLINE | As you warned me back at Comic-Con, there was a lot of death in the episode — some more ambiguous than others. Did Luna die?
You’ll have to watch [next season]. We didn’t see her die.

TVLINE | And Russell? Is he really dead?
He’s gone. We may see him in flashbacks, but he bit it.

TVLINE | Also back at Comic-Con, you declined to tell me which couple you were having the most fun writing for this season because it would be too much of a spoiler. Can you now confirm it was Russell and Steve?
Yes. I love both of those actors and I thought they were hilarious and kind of touching.

TVLINE | Will Steve remain a viable character next season?
I don’t know. I’ve spoken to Mark briefly. They’ve only pitched some very broad ideas. I hope he does because I think he’s such a great character. I don’t know if he would be a big part of the season, but he definitely seems like that would be a person to bring back.

TVLINE | You really outdid yourself with Rosalyn’s death scene. Congratulations.
I think that is probably the most jaw-dropping [death] that we’ve done. Every time I see it I laugh.

TVLINE | The Pam/Tara kiss – did you know at the start of the season that it was all leading up to this?
It was in our mind at the beginning of the season, yes. We wanted to really tease it out.

TVLINE | What was it about those two characters that made them relationship material in your mind?
They both were, if not full-on lesbians, than bisexual. They both were characters with real attitude. And they both hate each other — at least they did at the beginning of the season. And that, to me, felt like it could create a lot of tension that could turn romantic towards the end.

TVLINE | Where would you personally like to see that relationship go next season?
Well, here’s the thing with relationships on True Blood: Once they happen then you have to throw a monkey-wrench into them, because to have people be happy is not that exciting.

TVLINE | But it’s your understanding that Mark is committed to that story?
All of the writers were into [them], so that is my understanding, yes.

TVLINE | Did you ever consider introducing or unmasking Warlow in the finale?
No. We didn’t want to really define Warlow until the next season.

TVLINE | So he’ll definitely figure into Season 6?
I think he’ll be kind of a big part of it.

TVLINE | Is he someone we’ve met before?

TVLINE | With Bill heading into Big Bad territory next season, does that make Eric now the hero of True Blood?
Remains to be seen. They’ve both been heroes in their own way. Eric was kind of like a mischievous cad, but I don’t think he was ever, like, a true villain the way that Russell was or the way that Maryann was. And he’s done a lot of really heroic things himself. So I never really looked at Eric as the bad guy and Bill as the good guy – at least not since the very early seasons. But it remains to be seen what will go down with both of them.

TVLINE | A non-finale burning question — why did you write Hoyt out?
I felt like we had told his entire story. There weren’t many places we could go with him that we hadn’t been, but I love that character and I love Jim [Parrack] so much I didn’t want to kill him. He’s always been such a good soul. I wanted to have the possibility for him to return as well. But he fell in love and he couldn’t let go.

TVLINE | Did you feel like you had to write him out so viewers could more easily accept Jessica and Jason without feeling guilty?
That was not the thought, no. I thought the way that he left and the way that he made her glamour the memories out of him was pretty devastating. Also, there are so many characters on the show to serve. It felt like Hoyt had run his course for now, so we thought let’s send him off to Alaska and then if we need to bring him back as well.

TVLINE | The finale was your swan song — how are you feeling?
It’s bittersweet. It’s been such a big part of my life for so long; of course it’s hard to step away. But running that show is such a huge job and I’ve been doing it for five years straight. I just don’t think I have another season left in me. I need to re-charge. And then I’m interested in doing something new — something with different characters and a different tone. As a writer, it’s fun to create. And once you get into a long-running show with very established characters and a very established tone and format, after a while it’s a really great job but that’s what it is — a job. You’re just continuing to create the same show. I’m at the point in my life where I don’t want to work as hard. Actually, I’ve had to take a good hard look at workaholism and it’s effect on one’s mental health. [Laughs] And, also, there are things I want to do that are different. I want to try something completely different.

TVLINE | The show is in good hands with Mark?
Very good hands. And three other writers have been there since the very beginning… It’s like a having a kid go away to college.

Top 5 WTF Moments of True Blood Episode 5.11

Posted by Shadaliza On August - 25 - 2012

This is our selection of the top 5 WTF moments of True Blood episode 5.11 – Sunset.

Considering it was a Bill-centric episode no surprise there that 3 out of the 5 WTF moments this week concern him.

What were your best WTF moments? Post about it in the comments.

In order of appearance:

Jessica has to turn Jason

When Jessica is denied a phone call to warn Jason about Russell and Steve who are on the loose, she suggests to Bill to turn him. Jessica doesn’t really want to of course, but Bill immediately takes her up on her offer and sends her on her way to Bon Temps with a security unit to make sure the task is carried out. Poor Jessica is freaked out of her mind by Bill’s unexpected behavior and the fact that she now has to turn Jason.

Eric kills the General

When General Cavanaugh drives the Authority members into a corner threatening them with sophisticated new weapons and the release of the video of Russell and Steve eating a local fraternity house, non of the chancellors no what to do or say. But nobody puts Eric in a corner, he stops the General on his way out and snaps his neck with one hand. I didn’t see that one coming, I understand it was all part of Eric’s escape plan but the General didn’t deserve this in my opinion.

Bill kills Kibwe

Bill believes he is the chosen one and is not pleases at all when Kibwe reveals that he had a visit from Lilith and that she chose him. Bill doesn’t hesitate one moment and rips Kibwe’s head clean off. Bil has just crossed another line on his way to complete his Messiah delusion.

Bill hits Jessica

When Jessica doesn’t turn Jason, Bill unleashes his wrath upon her and strikes her, sending her flying across the room. Bill loves Jessica, it is the only loving relationship he has left and to have reach the point to hurt her like this, means that the old Bill has left the building completely.

Russell kills elder faerie

Big words of fight from the crazy elder faerie, who dances a lot better than she fights. She didn’t stand a chance against Russell and was turned into a faerie cocktail in no time. Looks like it’s vampire happy hour now at the faerie club.
