Bill is rolling from one mess into another. Right after he says to Lorena: “You may be immortal, but you are dead to me.”, a bomb explodes killing several vampires and humans. In all the chaos there is one vampire who never loses his cool and tricks a good-hearted Sookie into swallowing some of his blood while sucking out a silver bullet from his chest, making all Bill’s worst nightmares come true. Eric will always be able to feel Sookie now and his powerful blood will awaken sexual desire in her that she would never have felt towards Eric had it not been for that blood.
Hoyt wants to introduce Jessica to this mother, the vampire hating Maxine is not pleased, not pleased at all and despite Hoyts threat to leave this house forever she is not able to play it nice with Jessica and even makes her cry.
Maxine:”I simply object to a girlfriend who will kill you and eat you. I think that’s reasonable.”
Hoyt: “I am not a baby, I am a grown ass man!”
Wonderful to see Lafayette is getting his mojo back, he protects his cousin Tara just like Jason would protect Sookie and he totally kicked Eggs butt in the process. Don’t let the false eyelashes fool ya!
Sam is a fly on the wall and seeks alliance with the only person who might believe him: Andy Bellefleur.
One of the most beautiful moments of this episode was the scene between Sookie and Jason. After everything that happened, brother and sister are bonding like they have never bonded before. I was moved to tears during this scene. Hilarious was what followed immediately after: Steve (with paintball mark on his forehead) and Sarah Newlin arguing with Nan Flanagan and each other on national tv.
The other moment that touched me was Godric up on the roof waiting to meet the sun. The scene failed to make me feel for Eric, his bloody tears for his maker could not warm my heart for him, but I did feel sorry to see Godric go. Kudos to Allan Hyde for portraying the 2000 year old vampire in an extraordinary moving manner, I would have loved to see more of him.
Sookie compares Bill to Godric when she says :”What if you were Godric in 1800 years?”. She is right, Bill could indeed evolve to be the next Godric with his compassion and respect for life in all it’s forms (except for those who commit CAS, Crimes Against Sookie, of course). I think Bill should get involved with the AVL, it might put him in a better position to fight back to Eric.

I totally feel you Shirley or as Bill said Sunday nite to Sookie as she expressed her dismay about Eric’s trickery, ” I CONCUR ” !

Lovelylavendar: I agree he looks old fashioned and I just don’t understand and I am not liking this look at all. He really looks tornmented.
Last season he ravishing, still love the bills character just want them to work on this next season.
My niece watches it also most of her friends think Eric is hot but not like Jason. They also said Sookie/ Bill should be together but they need to be more fun because there is no excitment besides sookie needing help all the time. LOL>

I would like to ask everybody to stick to discussing the characters and leave the acting abilities of the actors out of it, we all have our own opinion about that and we will never all agree.

Another interesting post followed by fascinating comments—a great discussion. Full disclosure, I am a Bill & Sookie fan (TB only, no books), so that colors my opinion, for sure. This episode started my heart breaking to see my favorite vampire sad and upset. Sookie’s dream sequence was all sadness to me—taking nothing away from the beautiful Alexander Skarsgard. He’s great and Eric is a terrific character, so fun to watch; I just don’t want to see him with Sookie. So all of that is probably why I didn’t think this episode could hold a candle to last week’s. Godric was a revelation—I would love to have seen him stick around and teach Eric a thing or two about how to behave like he was at least once human. Allan Hyde was superb—the way his world-weary manner and quiet authority permeated every scene in which he appeared was just mesmerizing. His rooftop finale was beautiful—he and Anna Paquin were superb. I also couldn’t feel for Eric—and I honestly don’t think it was the acting; that was fine. But Eric’s crying (interesting choice to have it sound so much like—how else to put it? —a little kid) made me want to laugh. And that’s only because all we’ve ever seen Eric do is laugh and sneer at anyone else’s emotions. So to see him in pain was enjoyable to me. Godric and Sookie made it a profoundly poignant scene, but Eric was a distraction and the scene got better after he left it. I assume we’ll see some rehabilitation of his character if we’re ever to believe that Sookie could fall for him. Alan Ball is a fiendishly clever genius, so I don’t doubt that he’ll pull it off. But I’m already dreading it.

Wow 210 comments so far, this is great! I have no time to read all this now or to post ‘a long one ‘ as Jason would say, so brevity will prevail.
This is the best of times ~ The show keeps getting better and better!
and the worst of times ~ I’M CRYING TEARS OF BLOOD FOR BILL1

I really am touched by Godric. I just really thought about how he had lived over 2000 yrs and now he grasp the idea that there is such things as wrong and right. Peace with self is when you learn and practice compassion and forgivness. He was humble at the end.
He knows sookie is with Bill why did he ask sookie to take care of Eric. I just don’t get it. I really don’t I love her response. I am going to just say the beautiful Goddric was feeling his child, brother and son pain.
Pam can very easliy take care of Eric. In fact I think she is more wittier than Eric so that is a great maker/child releationship . I miss Pam in these last episodes.
Sookie made me feel for Godric even more when she spoke with him about God, Fear and Pain at that time I was like she really really do have a tender heart like bill said.

I really felt Pam should have been there for Eric….I understand she has other duties but for some reason she was very much missed.
Overall I enjoyed the episode, didn’t think it was fantastic, but it was good.
Godric, amazing…Godric and Sookie at the end, amazing.
I was prepping my self for the dream sequence and got through it…I think people are reading into it too much. I feel for sookie because they are messing with her mind, a combination of Lorena and what happened with her and then with Eric’s blood, bad combo. She will be torn, but she also made it very clear how much she loves Bill and it was telling when she woke up and grabbed Bill’s hand… (didn’t he look so sweet lying there next to her)..so I’m not going to blow that scene out of proportion…it was a dream.
I’m sorry I am over the Maryann stuff…..I cannot wait till that gets resolved. Poor Jessica…but I love Hoyt with her, he is entirely sweet.
I really hate where they took Bill the last part of this season, I hope there is something exciting in store fo rhim…it may have something to do with the queen, who knows..he really is not powerful in the vampire political arena and it bugs me but I guess he really isn’t that old either.
I do like how AB showed exackly how he wanted Alex’s character to be, he is extremely manipulative…even Godric can attest to that, ie his talk with sookie at the end. I have a feeling and I could be way of base but I am wondering if this triangle only exists in Sookie’s dreams?could be an interesting way to play it out.

Wow, there are a lot of comments in this post! I’ll just say that I enjoyed certain parts of the show, didn’t enjoy others, and thought overall it was great but not OMGBESTEVER!! But with the hype the episode got last week, I’m not surprised it couldn’t live up to it. “Cold Ground” remains my definitive episode of True Blood, no doubt.

all of the main characters had truly compelling material in that episode. everyone’s relationships were tested and everyone needed a release. but above all a turning point happened for sookie and bill. that scene was breathtaking, gothic, sad, erotic, and loving. there was an incredible sense of surrender. it was so intimate you felt like you were spying but you ddn’t want to miss a single second. and as complicated as it was you wish it were you. i think they were trying to recreate that same feeling with this episode. i actually really liked this episode. but it was no “cold ground” for me. that episode was a masterpiece of television making. every moment and every scene was completely on point.

I was a huge Sookie/Bill fan last season and this season they just leave me cold. I came in to work Monday morning and all the girls I work with were going mad over Eric – I’ve never seen anything like it.

Well I think partly because they put Bill in the background more this season and showed his darker side….We will see both sides to both vamps throughout the show….Eric is just getting the attention right now, as sneaky as he is…that will change again eventually. But if you are a true billsbabe then you will stick by his side…lol…..

The song “I Will Rise Up” was great and very appropiate for poor Godric’s departure. Great tune by Lyle Lovett. I just saw the episode again and was still very touched at the end.

well I know that all the Eric fan’s out there are probably peeing themselves with excitement over the fact that Eric finally got Sookie to take some of his blood. I, however think that they are not realizing exactly what happened. Sookie hates Eric, has said that statement more than once and now she will be fighting with herself over what she will feel towards Eric, which will be false attraction due to the blood, and what she feels for Bill, two different things.
In the dream, Eric say’s that Sookie has the right temperment to be a vampire, and that statement is very revealing in the fact that Eric doesn’t accept Sookie for what she is, a human. He wants to change her and be her maker, having control over her, and of course take her away from Bill. And the only way he can achive that is by lying to her. Yeah that is the type of guy that really turns me on!!!
So while all of the Eric girls are sooo happy with his deciet and his lies and the fact that he basically drugged her against her will, think on this ladies, is that the type of man you want in your life? You really want a guy that wants you to change for his benefit? You want a guy that lies, cheats, and deceives you for his own pleasure? If that is what you want, then have at it and we will all see you soon on an episode of Jerry Springer!!

Thank you for articulating what I also noticed. The telling line was the pillow talk about Sookie being a vampire which has never come up with Bill. He loves Sookie as is.

green eyedsyren I love your comment and I totally agree ! Of course, I am and will always be in the sookie/bill 4ever
camp !! (Stephen and Anna have me mesmerized, both in the show and in real life. I am sooo glad they are engaged in real life, sort of takes away the sting when I watch Eric try to steal her away !)

I am a Bill girl the whole way, and I know that for the sake of the story they had to move into this relm. I just don’t get the facination with the viking. How could so many seemingly smart women find that guy attractive? Physical attraction is one thing, but you have to look at the big picture. You can’t get over the fact that if Eric was human, he would have been in jail by now for either beating the crap out of or killing his girlfriend/wife.
I know that Bill is not perfect, but he would never do half the stuff that Eric has done to Sookie, and that to me is the real attraction. Bill kills, but not so easily as Eric, as Sookie said, “you can love, and not one other vampire there could say the same.”
BTW, even though Bill may not be perfect, I KNOW Steven is!!!!

And how about the way Eric so blithely tortured Lafayette? Come on, if you love Lafayette, as so many of us do, how can you blink that one away so easily? Seriously, I can understand a physical attraction for Eric, but that’s his only appeal as far as I can see, and it’s not enough to balance out all the horrible things he does (for me, anyway).

AMEN LADIES !! IF BILL CAN GET OVER LORENA, SOOKIE CAN FIGHT THIS BLOOD DISEASE (YEAH THATS RIGHT ERIC CAMP FOLKS, IT IS A DISEASE) AND REMAIN FAITHFUL TO BILL ! EVERY “TRUE” RELATIONSHIP COUPLES CAN HAVE ATTRACTION TO OTHERS BUT IT DOESN’T MEAN THEY HAVE TO ACT UPON IT ! YOU KNOW THE SAYING “IT DOESN’T MATTER WHERE YOU GET YOUR APPETITE, JUST MAKE SURE YOU EAT YOUR DINNER AT HOME !”

I just saw this on weather.com (referring to Hurricane Bill), and thought it relevant to our discussion:
“Bill has weakened slightly but still could reintensify…”
Yeah Bill, reintensify! (the vampire, not the hurricane)
