First Official Trailer for Alexander Skarsgård’s film “The Giver

Below is the first official trailer for Alexander Skarsgård’s upcoming film, “The Giver.” Alex plays the part of Jonas’s father. The film is based on the best selling book and is scheduled to be released in theaters on August 15. Below is a photo of Alex from the trailer. He can be seen twice starting at about 0:26 and 0:34, but don’t blink or you’ll miss him like I did the first time.

The film stars Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Katie Holmes, Alexander Skarsgård and yes, even Taylor Swift are all in the Hollywood adaptation of The Giver, which gives junior high school kids one less book they will actually have to read for school.

Based off the book by Lois Lowry, The Giver is set in a utopian future where the people of Earth no longer feel the terrible emotions of their ancestor — no more pain, no more sadness, no more suffering. However, it’s one person’s job to savor all these emotions for the new society, and that person is called The Receiver. Main character Jonas is The Receiver’s new apprentice; suffice to say, the more you learn about the real world, the less utopian it becomes.

He’s in this trailer in two places. Maybe he looks a little bit different but for sure you can easily recognize him :)

He is in the trailer, at least two times that I saw. He is sitting at the table with the mom (Katie Holmes) and the daughter. He is putting something in a tube while a little girl sits in a chair. He just looks different as he is sun kissed and not all white as people are used to seeing him from True Blood makeup.

I’m not usually into these dystopian stories, but this looks interesting and well-made. I will definitely try to catch it when it comes out. Hope it’s very successful for Alex’s sake and the rest of the cast.
