Michael Ausiello at TVLine has just announced that Allan Hyde, Godric will be in Season 4. Since Godric succum to the rays of the sun in Season 2, we’re guessing he will be in a flashback, but who knows, since Denis O’Hare is expected to return from the cement, maybe they will find a way to make Godric also return.
Here’s what he has to say about it:
You already know that True Blood‘s upcoming fourth season will feature witches, werewolves and more Nan Flannigan. But here’s what I’m fairly certain you don’t know: It’ll also mark the return of vampire legend Godric!
Allan Hyde will reprise his role as Eric’s late, forever young-looking maker when the HBO drama resumes this summer. The duration and exact timing of his stint are unknown. It’s also unclear what form the onetime vampire sheriff of Area 9 will take given that he succumbed to the worst sunburn in history during season 2. (He returned briefly from the great beyond in the season 3 finale to deliver a message to Eric.)
Alan Ball isn’t offering too many clues, except to say that fans will see “a different side of Godric.”
Fantastic news. I am curious about the form his return will take. Hmmm, we will see a “different side of Godric.” I know I’ll be pondering that one.

Awesome news! I always loved the “young” Godric we came to see when he turned Eric. And it was mentioned at some point that Godric and Eric had quite some “partying” years together (or was that in the books…). I think it would be really interesting if they explored those years before Godric got “enlighted”. Really looking forward to season 4. Come on June!!!

Finally some spoilers are trickling down. Did we not get more spoilers and behind the scenes pictures by this time last season? I feel like there is more of a lockdown on spoilers this year. Makes it more interesting :)

I’m hoping to get to see a very violent, slightly psychotic, Godric. I’m thinking that he and Eric will be shown, as inquisitors, in a flashback.

I’m all for more Godric if it adds meaning to an existing storyline. I wasn’t impressed with the Nazi flashback, not his fault though, but it seemed placed in WWII purely to get the schock value.

Godric was easily my favorite character in the whole series so far. I was devastated when he died. I found season 3 kinda mediocre, and I’m having trouble really getting into season 4. But if they brought back Godric in some kind of real way (i.e. something more than a one-off flashback), there is no doubt in my mind that it would completely reinvigorate my enthusiasm for watching this show.
Remember, characters like Lafayette and Pam were killed off way early in the books, but the writers kept them in the TV version because they were so popular with fans. So why not come up with some deus-ex-machina to reintroduce Godric?
