Grant Bowler Lands Role as Richard Burton in ‘Liz & Dick’

Grant Bowler, who was last seen in Season 3 of True Blood in the role the werewolf, Cooter who stole Debby Pelt from Alcide has now landed a new role in the upcoming film “Liz & Dick. Grant will play Richard Burton opposite Lindsay Lohan’s Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime TV movie, “Liz & Dick.”

Prior to True Blood, Grant also played Connor Owens, Vanessa Williams’ one time love interest in ABC’s “Ugly Betty,” and most recently, he appeared on the now-canceled ABC Sunday night drama, “GCB.”

The 43-year-old actor is 18 years older than Lindsay, who is 25. Richard and Elizabeth were separated by just seven years.

Larry A. Thompson, who is an executive producer on the project, told Deadline, which first reported the news that they auditioned “many actors on just about any continent” for the role.

“Grant will add gravitas to our couple and bring to life one of the greatest actors who has ever lived,” the producer added. “Burton was a Welsh poet, a rascal, and a man’s man, who swept Elizabeth Taylor off her feet and flew her so close to the sun that they both exploded into stardust that still lights up Hollywood.”

Well, the producers are incredibly lucky to have signed Grant!

I’m guessing there’s more than a little trepidation involved as actual shooting looms, and Grant appears to be a guy who can handle just about anything! He’ll be great as Richard Burton.
