It took some time, but HBO has finally made the official announcement that the hit show True Blood has been picked up for a third season!
Alan Ball is planning to shoot the first episode of Season 3 before Christmas. True Blood will be back with the third season in 2010.

They finished shooting season 2 in July. It takes about 6 months to shoot the season. June 2010 is the earliest possible.
I prefer quality over a hasty job.

What am I supposed to do in the meantime. Trueblood is like heroine and when you need a fix, you need a fix. I normally record each episode and then watch it three or four times. I have season one on DVD and can’t wait until season two is released on DVD. Keep up the good work, this series is a knock out!!

I’m never sure about HBO’s judgement and the only reason I still pay for their programming is TRUE BLOOD… it’s been their saving grace since they cancelled previous programs out of the blue like ROME, DEADWOOD, and CARNIVAL. Don’t ever take for granted that they are in tune to their viewers’ choices. Thank goodness, so far they’ve gotten this one right!!!!!

This is the most intense and most creative show I’ve ever seen. The one today in which the “zombies” have Sam holed up in his restaurant was in some ways almost satirical of the Night of the Living dead movies.

That’s when Eclipse the third book (and MY Fave out of the series)
will be out at theaters. As far as I’m concerned there Is NO comparison…TB is Much better!!!The writing is better and it just goes for the jugular!! It’s provacative,dark,scary and sexy. As for the adult content its HBO what did you expect?? Twilight is much more tame by comparison…even though the final book Breaking Dawn is probably more intense for its core audience…if you have read it you know what I mean. True Blood is better However Twilight does have its good points.

I wanted to also say that I like the vampires of Bon Temps better than the vamps in Forks,WA. I like Bill and Sookie. I like Sam Merlotte the best I think because he seems to be the most compassiionate and down-to-earth person there..he’s funny,too! Jason is funny but he’s far too ignorant i guess being so clueless makes him more funny and likable.I like Bill but he can be mean,controlling,manipulative and moody!! He doesnt apologize to Sookie after their big fight he just says he loves her and cannot lose her. I don’t think Edward Cullen would ever talk to Bella Swan that way….even when he’s angry with her
in book 3 she runs off to see Jacob Black even though she said she wouldnt. Edward evewn catches her making out with Jacob!! He’s angry and hurt but he knows that Bella must choose and so he speaks kindly to her even though he’s deeply hurt by her…Do you think Bill

I don’t think it was Eric at all, and I don’t think it had anything to do with the queen. It would just be too obvious. I think that Eric did want Bill out of the picture so he called Lorena. I think Lorena either did it herself or she had another vamp do it for her. Eric already knew that Bill was in love with Sookie and once he got reaffirmation from Sophie Anne, he decided to call Lorena because he knew her crazy ass would try to get him back.

You don’t have to wait a whole year to watch season 3! Do you guys ever read Wikipedia? “It premiered on September 7, 2008. The show’s second 12-episode season premiered on June 14, 2009. On July 30, 2009, HBO confirmed that a third season of True Blood will be released in the summer of 2010. Alan Ball has said that he plans to start shooting the third season before Christmas 2009.”

I am hooked on True Blood! I am so disappointed that we have to wait till May or June of 2010 to find out what happened to Bill. I’m sure it was Eric who kidnapped Bill. Just like any other GREAT series, they leave you salivating, waiting to find out what happens in the next episode. As I said in my reply to Jay’s comment (Shadaliza beat me to it just a minute ahead haha), what worries me is the time span for a different reason. Yes, I’m hooked too (over here in Holland…), but I’m concerned that the series will lose it’s charm as the actors grow older every year… To my recollection, vampires don’t age… bet they will if the makers shoot 1 season per year! Seems a bit unwise to me… but then, I’m not the producer.
(mesmerizing here: e.g. Eric… he’s in his twenties in the story, right? So, let’s say he’s around 28 there (I don’t exactly recall the age he was turned vampire), in reality he’s 33 yrs old… by the time all of Charlaine Harris’ books are filmed, he’ll be 43 yrs old, playing a 28 yrs old vampire… appealing or appalling?)

Well, some people who have subscribed to digital TV have recently seen a new channel being added: foxlife… Season 1 is being played as we speak, today will be the 2nd episode I think. But national and commercial channels will a] not have the funding to buy True Blood (look at the ‘crap’ (excuse my ‘french’ haha) and reruns they’re broadcasting now… worthless!) and b] will probably evaluate True Blood to be too much for their audience. Calvinistic as a lot of Dutch still are, there would definitely be a lot of protest and you and I (and an increasing number of Dutch True Blood Addicts (LOL)) would have to sit anxiously waiting for the government to actually put a ban on it. Read the books. There are a whole series of them I think 8 or 9 and they will continue the plot very nicely. There is a whole world Charlene Harris has created. Since they are in paperback pretty cheap too.

I love trueblood but the only part about it that sucks is they wait a really long time between seasons. Last year it took a year after season 1 ended to start season 2 and its probably gunna take another year till season 3 starts…im guessin around July or August.

The will shoot the first episode in December. Season 3 will air in June 2010. It takes about 6 months to shoot 12 episodes.

I read on the HBO site that Season 3 would be released in June 2010. Are they crazy? I got frustrated and ordered the set of books. By summer 2010, I’ll be so disgusted with the delay that I will probably refuse to watch.
People have basically not changed their viewing habits even though the seasons seem haphazard now. The longest wait you should put a viewer through is 3 months like what used to take place during the summer. Also shows used to have a proper finale.
I am truly outdone with them. They better get to filming. What is this business about trying to decide if they were going to continue it while leaving Season 2 with a cliffhanger?
I swear this is why I don’t even bother to get involved in the new shows because they seem to have no respect whatsoever for the viewing audience.

as far as bills kidnapper goes it makes since that it could be lorena but im sure its someone we havent seen yet on the series. I heard that in the books its the king but the series dont really follow the books from what ive heard since i wont start reading the books until next week. Eric does kinda have a motive but if he wants sookie to willing give herself to him he wouldnt do that shes to kind hearted. the way the plots twist and the cliffhangers that end the shows im sure bills abducter is a new face. And season 3 is going to show werewolves (finally) and give some insight to sookies supernatural abilities. And im pretty sure that eric is going to turn either lafeyette or sookie. And my question to anyone that can answer would be that if sookie is turned can she still read minds or would she be some kind of hybrid vampire, well if she could still read minds that would make her hybrid but you know what i mean. Also they guy that plays Jason is an awesome actor, in real life he speaks with a british accent and he does a great job of immitating the country boy accent.

I can’t wait until season 3. Book 3 is my favorite book out of the series. I really can’t wait to see who they choose to be Alcide ( my favorite character and the love of my life) for season 3. I am not kidding, he is my dream man. Nonetheless, reading the books and rewatching season 1 is keeping me moderately sane. But waiting a year is crazy, but I am so happy filming is going to start in a couple of months. This show is the best show on tv, it is great for both adult men and women (who are not prudes). This show rocks indeed!

The third season is not going to start until June 2010. ((OH COME ON)) I’ve watched season one and two a handful of times already and went and bought and read all the books. My Sunday’s are just not the same without the True Blood Crew. I MISS THEM ALL. None of the other shows can even come close to filling in the time gap. ((THIS JUST ISN”T RIGHT)) They need to come up with some sort of related show for the between season gap. True Blood is by far the best.

actually the kidnapping does take place in the novel Club Dead. Bills maker in the first season kidnaps him. He cheats on Sookie with her because he has to follow her orders.

I was really looking forward to seeing him flamboyant but I love Alexander, he plays Eric well…still, that outfit from the “swinger scene” in book two would have been interesting to see, for sure. And he’s much more light in his flirtatiousness with Sookie in the books, as well. :D

Season 1 was a very good well tought season, then season 2 came out, just to much “magic” but ig uess HBO has their own reason why they had to spoil sucha good tv program like that, well looking forward to S 3 and se if its better then s2, but to be honest, they cant do much worse then s2, ans why in the world would godrik die the 2 thousand year vampire, he must be faster the lightning, redicoulus, May the blod pour in ur veins.

In the book he chose to die because he couldn’t stop himself from hurting people and his victims were adolescent boys. He was feeling remorse but didn’t think he could control himself to not do it anymore. (Which I agree, it kind of sucked because I think that Charlaine could have used his character longer than she did.) He didn’t have that big a part in the book, but both in the book and the show, it was his choice. He wanted to die. That’s why at the end of the episode where he burns, Sookie makes a comment about how going to the Fellowship wasn’t the best idea and he said something along the lines that he thought it would somehow make it right. I was kind of upset because I liked Godric in the show and I hope that they do some flashbacks or something but it’s unlikely. As for the magic complaint, read the books. There is magic a-plenty all over it. If you don’t like that then you probably aren’t going to like later seasons since she meets some very magical creatures who stick around. I won’t spoil it for anyone who hasn’t read them yet, but do :)

WHY would HBO even question putting this show back on the air? True Blood is another major hit series for HBO. They brought us The Soprano’s, Six Feet Under, Sex in the City and so on and they’ve done it again with True Blood. I am so hooked on this show as is my boyfriend, my grown daughter and her friends. Got to love Sookie and Bill. Can’t wait for season 3.

I am very addicted to this True Blood show. i am in Afghanistan right now and acouple of my comrades have put me on it.they only had the season 1 first 4 episodes,so i went out and purchase both season’s ,HBO has done it again with a show that can keep me on my lap top.plus my goodness im soooooo sooooo in love with deborah ann woll she is just so gorgeous and a great actress she plays jessica Hamby on point in season 2 plus the relationship that is established with hoyt is just right i was hoping they would get together from the start.i just hope their love continues through out season 3 cause the end of season 2 left me worried alittle, it would be very stupid to kill out any of those 2 characters. I try to leave out spoilers from the book series but they may occasionally pop in there. If you don’t want to know anything and want to read the books, then maybe don’t read what I’m about to say next. With that out of the way:
I do love True Blood and at first I was skeptical because I have been reading the books for years. I do agree with a previous poster that I wish they would stick closer to the books. Sookie’s character (meaning her personality) is a lot tougher in the books, which I prefer. Eric is much more flamboyant and I’ve never really liked Bill from the beginning. . . there seemed to be something he was hiding and he was too dark and drab for me. As for who kidnapped Bill in the tv series, it’s anyone’s guess because they’ve thrown curveballs before. It may be completely different than in the books but remember his maker’s last words in the show “I really wish you hadn’t said that…” Hint from the show’s writers maybe?
It’s unlikely that it was Eric, if the show is following the books to some extent, (which they are) because he has vested interest in Sookie and taking Bill outright like that would just be stupid, which Eric isn’t. As Eric has said before “What’s in it for me?” He’s always looking out for his best interests.
Read the books. I guarantee that if you like the show, you’ll love them! Besides, it’s fun being able to point out differences in the show and the book. I like that the show has given minor characters from the books more prominent rolls, though. There are some characters that have more roles in the books that aren’t getting enough air time (in my opinion) But if you want to know who they are, again read the books.
As far as Season 2, I’m pretty certain that the dvd set isn’t out yet so unless you can find the episodes online somehow, or if a friend has recorded it, your SOL for now, unfortunately. I liked season 1 but I love season 2. You get a better sense of each character and their personalities now that it’s moved into the second season and hey, Eric’s haircut…yum! Although, I think I’ve seen enough of Anna’s boobs, but that’s just me. Gotta love HBO :)
