Michael McMillian on Steve Newlin’s ‘surprising’ journey” in True Blood.

stevenewlinMichael McMillian, who plays the lovable (former) reverend Steve Newlin talks about his experiences in Season 6 and on the upcoming death we’ve all heard about; and he assures that it’s going to be devastating.

“I obviously can’t say who it is, but I was definitely surprised when I found out,” Michael admitted, adding that the shocking death “changes the tone of the show” entirely.

Ever since showrunner Brian Buckner revealed that “one of the principal characters will not make it all the way through the season,” fans have speculated which vampire will meet his (or her) true death. That is, if it’s a vampire at all.

As for Steve, season six is very much about reflecting on the past – particularly on past mistakes.

“The important thing to remember, and what I think is actually really cool, is that all of this is Steve’s fault,” Michael says. “He and Sarah came up with these camps together back in the Fellowship of the Sun, and now he’s become a victim of his own creation.”

Speaking of Sarah (Anna Camp), Michael says he was thrilled to reunite with his former on-screen wife

“There’s so much to work out between them, considering everything they’ve gone through as a couple,” Michael acknowledges. “And I actually think fans will be really surprised by the way they interact with each other. It won’t go down the way you might expect.”

In last Sunday night’s episode 5, Steve showed more of his true colors when he gave “intel” on Pam and Eric to his former wife Sarah.  We know that Steve is just surviving and must have given the information under torture, but we wonder how much time it took for him to give out with the goods.  I’m thinkin’ not much time.

Ok, fans who do you think will “bite it” this season? I know who I think, but I’ll let you know later, don’t want to influence the voting. Note: We’ve used only those that have been on the shore for more than one season in our list below.

Update: PLEASE VOTE FOR WHO YOU THINK THE WRITERS DECIDED TO BE THE MAJOR DEATH, NOT WHO YOU WANT TO DIE ON THE SHOW! LOL!

I’m sure it will be more than one of these on the list. I can honestly say there is nobody that I’ve been dying to see gone from the show. Even the 2 on this list that I just can’t stand. They all had their place in the story.
The fact that there is going to be at least one more whole season with somebody important missing bothers me more than knowing that somebody is going to die this season. That’s weird.

I was wondering if it’s just the absence of a key character that changes the tone, or if it’s how the other characters react to the death and change that causes it.

      oops
, because if it’s just the reaction of key characters or a big event that’s triggered then maybe I can stop worrying that I’m going to lose Bill.

i was never worried about Bill until 5 minutes ago. what is wrong with the 11 people who voted for (against?) Bill?

The absence of Bill, or…well…so MANY of my favorites is unthinkable. I’m so afraid. This year, True Blood is like a ten episode horror flick.

I know! Entertainment shouldn’t be stressful, at least not on a continuing basis.
I don’t think the poll is who you want to be killed off, at least that’s not the way I voted. I didn’t vote for Bill but I voted for a character that I love played by an actor that I think is wonderful. I really hope (s)he is not the one who dies, but I based my vote on things going on in the last episode.

“what is wrong with the 11 people who voted for (against?) Bill?”

        Nothing.
Why would something be wrong with a person just because he/she thinks the major death will be Bill?

What is wrong with people who voted for Eric or another character? It is the same like voting for Bill!

whoever goes, i still regret that they killed russell, he was a major part of the show in many ways: sublime vilain, many possibilities of really freaky returns and denis o’hare acting: always perfect!

if it is a major caracter other than the trio bill/eric/sookie (i would think they would be very cautious to kill one of them for future audiences!)there’s the “second circle” of pam/tara/lafayette/sam/jason/alcide/jessica.

you have to kill major caracters to bring new ones and to refresh the storyline the problem is that the dead -godric,russell….-have not really brought a strong recurring new face!
