G Tom Mac the original writer & performer of Cry Little Sister, theme song from Lost Boys, has created a new version of his song for and inspired by True Blood, this swampy bluesy music video says it all. G Tom Mac explains. “I wanted to do a version of ‘Cry, Little Sister’ that had a swampy, bluesy Robert Johnson feel, so it would fit in the Southern Gothic world of TRUE BLOOD. They wanted to use the song and I think it fits.”
Music in this video was preformed and written by Gerard McMann aka G Tom Mac. The video was directed by Anthony Cappello and the director of photography was Paolo Cascio.
Song Available on CD Baby and is expected to soon be available through ITunes.

Being a big fan of The Lost Boys, of course I LOVE this song. An as cool as it is that GTM has updated it to fit into True Blood, I do believe that I still like the first version better..
It’s pretty sweet though. True Blood is really starting to make me look more at bluesy/jazzy music and realize that I actually like it! No more hiding behind my Industrial/Goth Rock lol.

I really love that he uses Bill/Sookie in his video. I think that’s awesome!

I’ve never heard the term “Southern Gothic.” Learn something new every day…

I hope we get to hear the whole song in the show. I love what he’s done with it (love any kind of slide guitar). Really gritty.

Is that version going to be available on iTunes? I can’t find anything but the original version, which is cool, but this one is much more raw. I like it.

Seems the director of this video likes Bill and Sookie together… but for those of us of like mind, are we only going to be satisfied through music videos?

I loved the original, and I love this version! Isn’t it great how True Blood inspires not only common folks like us, but artists like Bob Dylon and G Tom Mac?
Whitters: Isn’t it wonderful when a TV show expands your musical horizon? I know I’ve gotten way more into the Swamp Blues than I ever thought I would because of True Blood.

Yeah, its actually really great. For about three years now I’ve been pretty much strictly listening to Industrial / Alternative music. I wouldn’t even listen to other songs to see if I liked them (I was a total music snob).
Then I started watching more TV and got hooked on shows like Gossip Girl and Greek and they pulled me back into the world of ‘mainstream’ music and now I’ll listen to just about anything!

I can’t find the song on Itunes, and when I purchased it on cdbaby, it says my download is not available. Anyone know anywhere else to get it?

Hollablackgirl, sorry you are having trouble getting the song. If I was you, I’d contact cdbaby directly. However, you can also buy the song directly from the artist’s site at this address:
http://www.gtommac.com/
The company they are selling it from is called clickandbuy.com. I don’t know anything about them, but I suppose they are OK.
The song is supposed to shortly be available at ITunes, but that is all I know.

First remix I heard years back:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIM6XtqpgeM (trance)…but, if you can find the DJ Icey remix of this song, it’s the best, by far. Totally appropriate for TB! :D

Another great song inspired by True Blood. This show has such a great variety of music and artists connected to it. This season-Bob Dylan. Next season-?????

As much as i like the original version of this song i’m not liking this bastardized version of the song.
In my opinion this song is being over used. It worked for the Original Lost Boys but then it was used agin in the craptacular Lost Boys 2 and now in this video.
I’m sick and tired of the original song being bastardized.

Anthony, good comment and interesting points. I feel that way sometimes when I have a song that I particularly like and don’t want to be changed. However, I try to remember that music is all about interpretation and creativity and that the original version is still there to enjoy. I like the creative aspect that allows us to re-investigate and re-interpret. As for this song being used too much, you may be right, but I like the new version and just try not to compare it to previous ones. Thanks for posting.
