Over the past few weeks we have published several articles on The Vault about True Blood composer Nathan Barr. The long anticipated CD of the original score that Nathan composed for True Blood was released earlier this month and to promote it Nathan was in Burbank, CA this Sunday for an autograph session.
The Vault’s special reporter Gretchen (AKA BittenByBill) challenged LA traffic to be there, met with Nathan and presented him a gift that was specially designed for him.

Nathan Barr and Gretchen
Here is Gretchen’s story.
True Blood has become a pop culture phenomenon; a raving success attracting viewers by the millions the world over. Apart from the talented actors and the industrious creative crew, it is also the beautiful haunting music of True Blood that makes millions of people fall in love with the show. True Blood’s very own maestro, Nathan Barr is an exceedingly talented and incredibly unique composer. His fulminant rise as a sought after musical virtuoso has recently earned him two new projects with Hostel’s writer and director Eli Roth and a new movie drama, starring Six Feet Under’s Michael C. Hall.
I had the pleasure of meeting with Nathan at the True Blood cd signing on September 13th at the Dark Delicacies shop in Burbank, California.
I can’t lie, I was quite nervous meeting him. Imagine my pleasant surprise when I realized after exchanging introductions, that he had a kind disposition and was most generous to share his valuable time to impart his experience about his work, future projects and his cameo appearance on True Blood.
What projects are you currently working on Nathan?
NB: I start two films in the next couple of weeks. One is a film called “Cotton” produced by Eli Roth of the Hostel films and other is a drama called “Peep Show” starring Rainn Wilson, Michael C. Hall and Sarah Silverman.
How were you able to get a cameo appearance on True Blood?
NB: They were looking for a pianist to segue from the scene from a bar to Bill’s scene singing Hard Hearted Hannah. They wanted to find a musician that wasn’t from SAG and when they approached and asked if I wanted to play the part, I immediately said, “Yes! Sure! I’ll do it”. It was a lot of fun.
Will you be open to do another appearance on future True Blood Episodes?
NB: (laughs) If they ask…if they ask.
Have they renewed your contract do to Season 3 of True Blood?
NB: Oh yes, in fact I’m working on the score right now so I’m not going anywhere.
Thanks Nathan. I appreciate you taking the time to talk to me.
NB: You’re welcome and thank you as well.

Nathan Barr is True Blood's Maestro.

Nathan was extremely delighted to have been anointed an honorary Billsbabe.
Nathan was also very pleased to see that I had brought along a token of our admiration for his work – a custom made t-shirt designed just for him courtesy of The Vault and the Stephen Moyer Webring. He gives thoughtful praise and thanks to his fans, to the Vault and lastly, the Billsbabes.
Nathan must have been pretty impressed by Gretchen because he mixed up The Vault’s domain name…. we are TrueBlood-Online.com of course. Totally understandable Nate, she is as cute as a button.

Thank you BBB, you did a great job. Thank you Nathan for the beautiful music that has become very dear to me. You are indeed True Blood’s Maestro as well as ours.

That’s so great! My husband was out in the LA area last week (we live in the Northeast) and I was SO hoping he might make it over there and get me a signed CD, but alas he was too busy with his own plans. But now I feel like I didn’t totally miss out. Nathan Barr is just brilliant–didn’t you love how the sweet cello of the Bill/Sookie love theme welled up while Sookie got her act together and realized she wanted nothing more than to marry Bill? ~sigh~
And oh, by the way, BBB you are beautiful!

Maycomb, I hereby anoint thee my newest best friend. Mahalo plenty for your kind words.
Nathan is our modern day Mozart. So many accomplishments at such a young age…his music brings out a range of emotions; you can feel the tragedy, the romance, the danger…I daresay it’s even sexy (for lack of a better term). He’s going to be pretty busy the next few months because I know everyone’s going to be clamoring for more.

Besides being talented, Nathan Barr is one handsome man! Phew! BBB – how ever did you hold your composure infront of that lovely man.
I love the CD – I have it and listen to it often. I’m so happy to see that Nathan will be back in Season 3, he is an important part of the show, his music almost feels like another character in the show. He truely is TrueBlood’s Maestro and now an Honorary Billsbabe ! Thank you to Nathan for the interview and thank you BBB- Great Job G/F !
Go out and buy this CD – it’s gorgeous!

Your music review was mighty good Sterling. **bows down to your awesomeness** I saw that it’s been featured in his website. CD sales are going to skyrocket. I just know it.

How wouldn’t Nathan be a bit flummoxed by BBB? Look how cute she is! Nice interview…his music, in particular, Bill and Sookie’s sad sweet music, is so important to the texture of True Blood. Thank you BBB for obtaining the interview and to Nathan for his music and welcome to our newest honorary Billsbabe!

BBB! What a great interview. It is very well written. It’s not fair. You’re young, beautiful and a great writer. I, on the other hand, was only born crazy.
Seriously, you are so lovely and sounds like you had a wonderful time meeting and talking with Nathan Barr. And no everyone gets made an honorary BillsBabe. The world should be so lucky.
Great job!

I’m no spring chicken ABNeg. LOL. Nathan I believe is younger than I am. He could very well be my nephew. My very tall and extremely talented and successful nephew. That’s my advantage as a vertically challenged person. People always think I’m young…don’t people think Gary Coleman’s still a kid?
[Reply]
Aaaw guys! I’m blushing redder than a baboon’s a$$ here. Thank you so much to you all and to Nathan and friends for sharing their time with me.
ABNeg, are you kidding? You are one of the best writers I know. I can not compete. I can only drool. It’s like my number one skill; that and getting lost (even with a GPS). **stares at NB’s pics** Uh-oh, I’m gonna need a bib here.

What a sweetie-pie, and what a gorgeous smile! So good to know that Nathan’s cello will be there in Season 3 to warn us of impending doom (or impending love-making!)
Another excellent interview, BBB.

Great interview BBB and you’re right girls, he sure is a cutie pie. Funny that this should be on here today, because last night I was out and about trying to get this CD and have been unsuccessful so far. I went to Borders and Target and neither one had it. You could order if from Borders but I wanted it right then. I am still on a quest and will find it because I love all the scores he did in Seas. 1 and have besides I have already worn out first TB CD with the various artists on it. At first I wasn’t that crazy about it other than Bad Things, but the more I listend, I really love most of the songs now and know all the words by heart.
