The Audie Awards, which honor the best in audiobooks, were handed out in New York City on Tuesday, June 5 and Rutina Wesley was a winner for her role as Beneatha Younger in Lorainne Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun. 30 Rock star Tina Fey received Audie Awards for Audio Book of the Year and best Biography/Memoir for her narration of her best-seller Bossypants.
Other winners included Jane Fonda for her memoir Prime Time: William Shatner won for Shatner’s Rules; Debbie Allen for Heart and Soul: The Story of America and African-Americans; Hope Davis for her narration of Ann Patchett’s novel State of Wonder; Boyd Gaines, Condola Rashad, and B.D. Wong for Selected Shorts: New American Short Stories; and Rutina Wesley and the L.A. Theatre Works cast of Lorainne Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun.
