True Blood’s Jason Stackhouse, Ryan Kwanten thought it was a mistake when he was named GQ Australia Man of the Year last week.  A humbled Ryan revealed he felt overwhelmed to be given the “rather auspicious title” in front of politicians, industry leaders and other bigwigs and he wrote this on his site:

“So, I was recently awarded the GQ Australia Man of the Year. A rather auspicious title and I couldn’t help but think that they had made a mistake. Regardless, I flew into Sydney for one night to attend this exclusive event. It was held at the Sydney Opera House, overlooking Sydney Harbour. Amongst the attendees were some of Australia’s finest politicians, luminaries, and industry leaders and somehow little ol’ me was supposed to accept the award of the night. After a lovely introduction by the editor of GQ, I made my way to the stage and lectern. I stared out at the black ties and glittering dresses. I settled my nerves and launched into my speech. It went a little something like this…”

Kwanten’s next project will be David Williamson’s film Zebras, which Bruce Beresford will direct.
