Grant Bowler
Australian actor Grant Bowler (‘Ugly Betty’) has signed up for True Blood’s third season. It is unknown which part he will play but he is very excited about it.
“Mate, it’s HBO and it’s the King … it’s the chance to work for an Oscar-winner [series creator Allan Ball] and alongside an Oscar-winner [Anna Paquin],” he said.
It’s a great break for the 41-year-old Bowler, who has struggled with bad luck in the US for the past four years, largely because of directorial whims and the writers’ strike. The new role has him becoming bi-coastal, given that he will maintain his commitments on Ugly Betty where he portrays Connor Owens.
“Ugly Betty rolls from deep, one-on-one connected, touching realism to absolute farce to physical comedy and clowning and everything in between – I love it,” Bowler enthused.

Another Aussie/New Zealander in the cast. He is lovely and the blue eyes would make him fit as Sam’s brother. He’s a good actor and will be an asset to the TB cast.

Sam Merlotte’s brother is supposed to be around 20 yrs. old. This man is clearly older than Sam Trammell. LOL !
Perhaps he is playing either Franklin Mott or someone that has yet to be cast.
I would not like him for Alcide, even if they put a wig on him.
I really think Will Swenson is the only Alcide for me.

The casting call for Franklin Mott said something like “tall, dark and handsome” and this gent is fair-colored.

Great to have another Aussie on the show! I have seen Grant on Aussie TV for years – he was born in NZ but has lived in OZ since he was about 4 or 5, so he is an Aussie! He is 41, so much to old to be Sam’s younger brother! I have actually seen Grant in real life so I will be able to say that I have at least met a member of TB cast!!

I speculate that this gentleman has been cast to play Calvin Norris. He’s the right age and he has a slightly rugged, yet handsome, look.
This character emerging in S3 dovetails with some allusions made by Alan Ball, too.

Selle, you may be on to something . I wasn’t sure if AB would venture into Hotshot but if he does Grant Bowler would do nicely as Calvin going by this picture alone. I am not familiar with his work but it appears several others are and think highly of him.

I am wondering if he is going to play the leader of the gang of bikers who attack Bill as we have heard about in some of the spoilers. He’s very handsome, but something tells me he could play the villian quite well. It’s going to be interesting, True Blood has certainly assembled a cast of great looking guys.

I don’t know anything about this actor so I don’t have any preconceived notions about him. My first guess based on his pix alone would be some type of shifter/Were. Aussie/NZ guys have pretty much taken over the “rugged man” type for casting. Our American actors have all turned into video gaming/texting p*ssies unfortuantely.
I can’t see him being a vampire, but what do I know?LOL!

This man is awesome! He is from another fav TV show of mine called Outrageous Fortune, which is a New Zealand show. Can’t wait to see who he plays. Season 3 is looking to be incredible!
