SPOILER ALERT!

You may remember that when we encountered Stephen Moyer last week that he said: “You won’t fucking believe what they are doing to my character this season” and it looks like he wasn’t kidding since it appears as if there are lots of surprises coming our way for Bill and all the characters.

In the most recent UK’s SciFi Now magazine, which features a guide to all the episodes in season 2 of True Blood, with comments by Alan Ball, Alan has a little bit to say about season 3, as follows:

“Going into season two our goal was to make Eric a bad ass. Our goal in season three is to make Bill a bad ass.  He’s been kidnapped and he’s going to be in a position where he’s not free to leave for a while. We’re exploring a darker side of Bill in season three. And his relationship with Sookie, the love they have is very solid, however it’s going to be really tested to the extreme in season three and I’m not going to say whether it survives or not.  Also, in S3, he says, “Eric has lost the person or being who is most meaningful to him, as has Tara and everyone is wrestling with identity, who they are, who they’ve been and who they want to be.”

Ooo bad ass Bill, nice… more like Book Bill? more like a vampire?, about time I say. As for his relationship with Sookie…does it survive? well I think that depends on how close AB sticks with book 4 I guess, all we know is Eric does get amnesia.

Eric is missing Godric, are we going to see a more vunerable side to him? hence the flashbacks to his human family?

Bill a bad ass. Can’t wait to see how this plays out … the same with his and Sookie’s relationship. Looks like a tumultuous season not only for Bill, but for most of our Bon Temps friends.

Thanks, Lynn, for bringing this our way.

Definitely happy to see Bill getting fed up with things and going badass. Good for him.
Bill will be put through many trials this season, not that he hasn’t before. And it will be too much and he will finally let some of the vamp loose!

Let me guess as to why…..
Because you all feel Bill is hiding his inner demon self right?….yeah……….yes, I’m being snarky.

Personally I would like to see both vamps be a bit more “badass” whatever that means…..Eric hides behind his sheriff badge…while doing illegal activities. I guess that’s “badass”

Eric is not a saint and ever will be. neither of them are. But Eric would never go out of his way to protect a human like Bill has done, Eric thinks about himself first and foremost. Remember that.
I like Eric the way he is, its more fitting.

Bring it!! I can’t wait to see Bill’s struggles, against his captors and against his basic vampire nature. Bill can and does mainstream quite convincingly, but there’s no getting ’round the fact that he’s a vampire.

Bill and Sookie will be tested, and probably will part for a while, but they’ve always been the center of the show and I don’t expect that to change. I look forward to the journey.

I believe that once they officially and truly break up, they won’t reconcile again or if they do, it will be at the very end of the series. But there will be many “almost” moments of reconcilation, much love and longing from Bill to Sookie, much sorrow, nostalgia and attraction from Sookie to Bill.

I don’t know….part of see’s that happening as well but part of see’s AB doing it differently…..

I think they’ll keep them apart to create a more suspenseful situation, not because it’s like that in the books. Too illustrate, how many of us enjoyed S1 more than S2, when Sookie and Bill were more iffy and on the verge?

Did I just say that out loud?

Unhappy couples make for great television. *shrug* I’m down with it.

They don’t make reality shows about happy ,well adjusted people do they?

I agree that they’ll probably break up for good at some point, then they’ll get back together at the end of the series assuming that AB has a heads up and it doesn’t get canceled by HBO .

It sound exciting! One of my biggest complaints about the show (versus the books) was that Bill was made out to be too goodie goodie in season 2.

I’m curious about Jessica too. She didn’t exist in the books, so I wonder how they will portray her reaction to Bill being missing. He is her maker after all, but would she care?

    [Reply]

    willkill4Bill Reply:

I am curious about Jessica’s reaction as well. I’d like to think since they started building a better relationship she will care and maybe even try to help local Bill. Jess has gone rogue so who knows how she will respond. Somebody has to rein her in before it is too late and either she will held accountable or Bill will have that mess to deal with when he gets home. :(

    lovelylavendar Reply:

    Me too Willkill…
Will she feel him? will she know he is in danger? just by the maker/child relationship itself….
I remember in “scratches” when Bill ordered her back to the house she went into an almost zombie like space and immediately listened to him……
    So many questions!

    [Reply]

    sandy Reply:

I have a weird feeling about her, (Jessica),like a self destruction thing. I love her character so much. I hope that’s not the case. Maybe she was just a pawn in ABalls portrayal of Bill’s steps towards his human /vamp adaption into his new life.
What would be her next storyline?

One thing is for sure, she isn’t going on a hunger strike!

IMO this spoiler could be translated into Bill doing more than just biting and killing. He’s done both of those things before and Sookie assimilated it but this new thing that’s going to possibly break them up? I think I know what it is. I think Lorena is going to force Bill to drink her blood and he’ll become re-enamored with her and will have sex with her. And Sookie will find out. ….Just my speculation here.

    [Reply]

    lovelylavendar Reply:

In the books Bill took Clancy’s blood to heal in book 9 I believe ( they had no choice) but IIRC otherwise vamps cannot drink from one another….I do not think that will happen….I think Lorena may help him escape instead….because of her love for him.

There is another instance of vamps drinking from each other that’s mentioned, other than Bill drinking Clancy’s blood.

SPOILER [Shad, Lynn, I swear, I'll never do this again, I promise]

On this page, Eric tells Sookie why vampires almost never mate with each other for longer than one night. It gives them power over each other forever, the mating and sharing of blood. Now, clearly, he’s not talking about them drinking from the same human, because if that were the case, all vamps would have power over each forever whenever they share a human, which is often.

I’m surprised that some folks don’t see this as directly implying that Bill and Lorena shared each other’s blood, they drank each other’s blood when they mated. I have to be honest, that everyone I post with another website interprets this the same way I do. I guess there could be two interpretations…. Oh well. We’ll find out soon when S3 airs, which is great and I’m sure we all agree on that.

    Lori Reply:

I love this theory! it would also explain why Lorena then may end up letting Bill escape. I hope not though, I’d love to see a Sookie pumped up with vamp blood stake her!

I always found Bill to be sexy as well as Eric, each in their own way. But I really kept wanting to see Bill a bad-ass now and again. The niceness got a little too monotonous for me. I love to see all sides of him. Such a turn on if he will be able to balance all sides. We shall see!

Bad ass Bill, showing fangs please, a lot . I’ll welcome bad ass and seeing a darker side of Bill, he is what he is and he will need all the darkness in him to outmaneuver everyone against him and Sookie. Let’s just hope they as a couple survive, if not in the short run, than in the long run.

I’m also so interested in Tara’s story, and Eric’s and……… Season 3 is going to be so fun.

It seems that Ball is leading them down the path to emo twilight angst

I hope Bill’s new found badass doesn’t detract from Eric’s.

Sure it must be boring for Moyer to play the same note for an entire season but IMO a large part of Bill’s appeal is his anti-badassness.

    [Reply]

    Cherrybug Reply:

How could Bill’s newfound badassness detract from Erics? Eric is not just a badass, he’s an evil badass. There’s a difference between Bill and Eric and it has to do with their personalities. Bill doesn’t like being a vampire, but Eric does. From what AB said, Bill is turning more badass because of the situation he’s in…kind of like he is forced to do things that he wouldn’t otherwise want to do. Eric? He’s done nothing BUT bad things so far in the show. He not only does them, he enjoys doing them.

One note performance? You were watching a different True Blood than I was. Bill had a much bigger range over the season than Eric. Eric had a couple of outbursts outside of Eps 8 & 9, but the majority of his scenes throughout the season were the same world-weary bored and boring face and voice.

Thank god Bill will get to be a vampire again. One of my biggest complaints about season 2 was it was like Bill forgot he was a vampire and Sookie forgot she was a telepath. Inner struggle makes for good drama, but I for one do think the relationship between Bill and Sookie will end (at least for a while) and their separate journies will eventually led them back together.

    [Reply]

    billsluvr Reply:

I thought that Bill was a bad ass vampire, in season 2, and never understood why people felt that he wasn’t. There were lots of scenes that gave us glimpses of his darker side. Let me also remind people that all of the good that we’ve seen, in him, is part of who he is. Anyway bring on Bad Bill. I’m looking forward to it. I will take my Bill any which way I can get him. I have always said that Stephen Moyer makes bad look soooooo good, hot, and sexy. I think we are going to have alot of scenes where we’re going,” He is so bad and I shouldn’t be liking him but DARN HE IS HOT.” Stephen really shines when he goes into bad Bill mode.

    [Reply]

    Cherrybug Reply:

There were scenes of Bill’s “dark side” in season two and they were some of the best scenes of the season IMO. I would have liked to see more of them. I’m ready for them to bring on “Badass Bill”!! Nobody is hotter and sexier when he’s badass than Bill and Stephen is the best at hot and sexy!!

    [Reply]

    Sara Reply:

There were glimpses of Bill’s dark side, but not like in season 1. No scene in season 2 (with the exception of the flashback) had the same intensity as the cop scene or the scene where he attacked Sookie’s uncle. I think the vampire side makes Bill a more complex and interesting character, same with Sookie’s telepathic ability, but it got pushed aside in favor of MaryAnne.

    callonmebill Reply:

I agree Sara another S1 glimpse of Bill’s dark side was so perfectly displayed and acted out by SM displaying the best hot, sexy and oh so evil eyes in Hollywood was the bathtub scene with Sookie. “……….your safe with me”. That was such a powerful scene in so many ways.

    [Reply]

    Selle Reply:

Yeah, that was a good scene. He says “you’re safe with me” and all the while he’s thinking “I’m gonna kill me some Uncle Bartlett tomorrow night”.

They don’t give Bill the camera time they did in season one, that’s true, and the show is the worse for it. But Bill at the Hamby’s was definitely vampire. Bill attacking the kid on the street- raging vampire. Bill intimidating Sam and giving him that stare? That wasn’t human, that was chilling.

Let’s not forget the scene where the Sherrif and Andy came to his home to question him. He sat there, with his legs crossed, being all gentleman like. But the vampire was lurking just under the surface. He let Vampire Bill out just enough to make them feel uncomfortable, and enjoyed every minute of watching them squirm. He was smooth yet deadly.
