Another week with another new promo for Season 3. Tonight HBO aired Season 2, Episode 6, ‘Hard Hearted Hannah‘ in which we see Sookie go to the Fellowship of the Sun church to meet with the Newlins in hopes of finding Godric. We also see a flashback of Bill and Lorena from the 1920′s in much crazier days.
Once again, HBO has given us another minute glimpse of what to expect this June. Here’s the first look at the teaser promo number 6 where we see Sookie shoot Eric in the chest.
Thanks to LifeIsNotEasy for the original version of this video.
Here’s some screencaps from the promo:

sooooo good!!!!
seems that the Viking put himself between Sookie and the Were since this promo is the continuation of Eric’s promo^^
I so love Alan Ball…..

Nobody is speedier than our Life in snagging these promos and Lynn posting them . Thanks girls.
Well it appears that even though he can fly , a 1000 yr old viking vampire is not faster than a speeding bullet. Now let’s see if he is more powerful than a locomotive. lol

Sookie has obviously shot Eric. I don’t see a Were ( Andy Mac ) behind where Eric is jumping. There is nothing behind him. Do we think he is protecting someone?

That was funny willkill!!!

Interesting promo. Sookie didn’t look too upset about shooting Eric. Did she shoot him by mistake? Or was it something else?

Is Eric diving towards the bullet, like he’s taking it for someone else? That’s what it looks like to me. I’m confused because we don’t see anyone else in the scene. But I also know from teaser #1 that there’s a scuffle with a were. Is Eric taking a bullet for a were? That doesn’t seem like something he’d do… Maybe they’ll do some special effects magic and this will all make sense.

Definitelly, Eric is protecting Sookie. Previous sneak peeks shows her with a gun but never hear shots fired, We just see Eric down and asking/demanding to the were “who sent you” It must be just before this scene when the were shots at Sookie and Eric takes the bullots for her. The were shot Eric and whoelse is to help him but SOOKIE. Some more yummy viking blood“ Maybe some more Eric/Sookie blood exchanges! O

[Reply]
Yeah Eric is obviously diving INTO the path of that bullet, no one is shooting AT him. Meaning Sookie is shooting at someone else (can only be the were) and Eric is taking the bullet for them – not likely. OR, we are missing something….much more likely. My guess is that Eric is taking a bullet meant for Sookie, shot off by the were. Sookie’s shot is at the were after getting the gun during his struggle with Eric (which we saw in the first promo).
It’s pretty obvious this one is meant to mess with us. Some creative editing going on for sure.
[Reply]
If you put the first and last promo together, and account for deceptive editing, it looks like the following has actually happened: A Were (in human form, obviously) tries to shoot Sookie. Eric (who Sookie obviously invited into her house) jumps in front of her and takes the bullet. Seeing him bleeding, the Were (who is presumably V addicted) then shifts into wolf form, and goes in for the attack on Eric. Sookie picks up the gun in the ensuing scuffle, and proceeds to shoot the Were.
Being injured, the Were shifts back into human form, and we get the scene from the first promo: Eric bleeding on the floor, gripping the Were by the neck and interrogating him, as the Were viciously attempts to get a taste of Eric’s blood. Sookie, meanwhile, stands above them with the recovered gun on the Were in case Eric somehow loses control of the situation.

why would a Were shoot Sookie….
All he has to do is turn into Were…he is his own weapon….
Unless they only do it on full moon nights like in the books…
I agree, fancy editing for sure…..
But even in that last promo with the Were and Eric sookie is still pointing the gun at Eric and the Were is standing next to Sookie…..so far it dosen’t make sense…..
I do agree it would be Eric diving in front of the Were but that dosen’t make sense either….Eric hates Weres….and typically only thinks about himself….unless he is trying to impress someone….

I don’t think the were would be trying to shoot Sookie. Wouldn’t he just attack her physically, whether he’s in human or animal form? I’d imagine Sookie is a tasty morsel for weres as well as vamps.
Sookie may have had that gun in her house already and taken it out when the were showed up. We know she had a shotgun back when Rene attacked her in season 1.
This has to be tied into that promo shot too of Eric in Sookie’s face and neither looking happy. Maybe Eric is pissed because Sookie shot him? Hmmmm.

I agree and as one scene can have many takes this is probably one where Sookie wasn’t in shot, they do trial runs of stunts and it will probably be an fx shot showing Eric’s vampiric speed once it’s finished.
Maybe the were tries to shoot Sookie so it wouldn’t look like a were attack? there are always explainations.
One thing I do know, Eric would only take a bullet to protect Sookie, no other reason.

That sounds like a great scenario ! The only problem is that Andy Mac ( the Were ) doesn’t have any blood on him when he leans down to Eric and Eric yells at him “Who Sent You”. Even thruout the entire set up of the scene where you can see Andy is naked – he has no blood on him.
Unless of course they put it in later with CGI ….

Sorry I didn’t know we knew which episode this was from, I thought they were fairly advanced in their shooting for them to have an unedited snippet to show. I’m in Australia and I don’t have HBO, so I’ve only seen a few frames from this promo. In that case, I stand corrected.
Replace ‘Debbie’ with ‘random gang were’ and Alan Ball is getting Eric to take yet another bullet for Sookie…
Though I’m still not sure how early is too early. Remember I don’t envision True Blood season 10 and beyond, so some things are either going to go or get heavily condensed (for example probably the New Orleans book or some of the were politics).

I don’t think Alan is going to follow the season 3 and season 4 cannon too closely. Aside from Lafayette still being alive, and a certain waitress recently getting a regular spot on another show even though she’s supposed to be around for several more seasons, if he was going to separate season 3 and 4 clearly, why has Crystal Norris been cast? My guess is that he needs something to happen back in Bon Temps so he’ll use some of Jason’s season 4 plot line. And look at Lorena in season 2. She didn’t ‘belong’ there but she popped up.
Plus most successful one hour television shows have 7 seasons in them max. (Think West Wing, Buffy, Gilmore Girls, etc. Lost has had 6. Six feet under had 5.) It’s highly unlikely that we’ll get the ten-plus seasons needed to mirror all the books.

you have to remember, not everyone has or even wants to read the books….

Kate Reply:

Exactly. He needs it to move fast, have a mix of Bon Temps and Sookie’s trips to tie in the regulars and break up the scenery and he needs the two things HBO thrives on – nudity and action.
I see True Blood as very much an “inspired by” rather than “based on”. There’s really not a lot that hasn’t been tweaked when he needed it to be (Amy Burley, Rene’s background, Maryann’s whole plot, most of Tara’s character, Eric’s persona). And therefore nothing is sacred or certain.
[Reply]
There was a lot of spec after the first promo that Sookie shot Eric, and I didn’t think she had. But now? Hmmmm. I think this one comes before the first promo, though I’m not sure where the were is in this shot. Whoever Sookie was shooting, she didn’t look like she felt bad about it at all – badass Sookie FTW!!

As for True Blood Eric (they’re almost different characters really), why would he jump in front of a bullet? He already took bullets for Sookie in Dallas to manipulate her. This is him saving her again, there’s no one else who isn’t immortal he remotely cares about/is curious about.

I question whether or not her gun was actually fired. A fired gun would have a little puff of smoke coming out of the barrel right after being fired.

LOL they’re making it look like Sookie shoots Eric those teasers! No way Eric would jump in to take a bullet just for the fun of it, no taking into account both clips I think Eric takes the bullet for Sookie. Then when Eric and the were are fighting Sookie picks up the gun.
Why would the were use a gun? to make sure no one made the connection a were killed her?
[Reply]
i agree that they’re probably messing with us. i bet this is one of those typical tv scenes where it first looks like one person fired the bullet and then it turns out to be another. maybe sookie is pointing the gun at the were, but he gets to fire first and eric jumps in the line of fire. something like that. there’s no point in him taking a bullet to protect a were. or anybody but sookie for that matter. ;-)

just adding up all the data that we have thus far: the first picture we saw was of eric and sookie [presumably outside her house] her hair looks the same in that pic as it does in this promo. eric is wearing the same leather jacket from that same picture. this is just a theory despite how outlandish it may sound: eric and sookie are outside her house. he grabs her because there is a were inside and they have to come up with a plan. perhaps she really does shoot eric only to draw the were to them so that eric can attack. or maybe she’s not the one shooting the gun at eric after all. this is alan ball we’re talking about. i would never take a promo at complete face value here. there is definitely important clues missing that would fill the empty pieces.

I totally agree. Most of the short promo clips turn out to be set in an unexpected context. We are drawn in by the clip, we speculate lots of things, but the actual scene once we see it, is usually different than what we’d thought it would be. The only facts, as I can decipher here are:
1. Sookie is holding a gun and fires it, from shoulder level, aiming at the same level, so that’s about 4.5 feet high.
2. Eric is diving and is struck by a bullet. He’s about two feet off the ground, from what we can see.
So from that, do we think Sookie’s bullet hits Eric?
[Reply]
Selle Reply:
April 26th, 2010 at 12:33
Wait, maybe he does get hit by the bullet because at the height of his leap, he seems to cross the presumed height of the bullet’s trajectory.
But, on the other hand, he’s got to be moving at vampire speed so Sookie must have some lightning quick aim and a real itchy trigger finger to hit him in the center of his body like that. IDK. It’s mysterious.

I think it was pretty obvious. it is what it is. Sometimes that is how a scene goes down. Whether it was intentional or not, Sookie shot Eric. And by the look on her face, she was intent on doing what she did. There was no “Holy crap, I shot Eric look going on”……
[Reply]
This episode os from 3×03…is written on the Ciak^^
There are many reason, one for sure is that Eric is there to help Sookie and maybe he take the bullet for her or maybe he didn’t want a dead Were, becouse he cannot ask him where is Bill or whi sent him…or maybe Eric knows that an agry Were is not a godd thing!!!
My pov is that Sookie is alone in the hose with this man, doesn’t matter if we dont’ see him, scene are put together later in post production, and Eric just enter the house and take the bullet…
Of course Sookie invited him before…
Do you remeber Sookie and Eric pic?well she has the same clothes and most of all same mess hair….
we’ll see…
but one thing for sure….she didn’t mean to shoot at him..look at the direction of the gun…it’s not for him….^^

All I know is Sookie is wearing Bill’s engagement ring *joy* and Eric dives into the path of the bullet she shot and she wont have to SUCK this bullet on out of him.
(I apologize if someone already posted this have not read prev. posts)

Theory base on someone’s idea posted to another website:
Sookie and the Were both have guns and the Were shoots first. Eric winds up taking the Were’s bullet, which was intended for Sookie. I like this theory.
Shad, Lynn, I noticed that in introductory text for this article, it says that Sookie shoots Eric in the chest. Did you say that because you were told or the text came from HBO or were you interpreting what you believe happens based on the clip?

Shadaliza Reply:

We receive no info from HBO about the teaser clips, this was Lynn’s idea of what’s going on in the clip.

It definitely is Sookie shooting Eric. As to why Eric would jump in front of a bullet will be a mystery till we actually see the scene in its entirety. He would not try to save a ware. In fact it looks like he was fighting the were in the earlier tease.
We know he didn’t do it to save Sookie, because she is the one weilding the gun.
So we need to think about why and how Sookie has a gun.
Why is the were there (previous tease) and did he have a gun?
Why also is Eric there and why would he jump in front of a bullet.
What we do know for sure is that Sookie has slapped Eric and now shot him.
Maybe Eric should stick to strippers…..much safer!! LOL

Agreed lovely, but just trying to keep all possibilities open as to where the gun came from. Sookie only previously had a shotgun in her house not a handgun.
Of course you would think that a were would not need a gun. We know a vamp doesn’t.
It could be that someone else gave her a gun for her own protection. Thinking that if Bill was abducted then she could be next.
It cannot be Sam because he is gone. It could be Jason or Eric. Perhaps even Lafayette, he also had a shotgun in his house. Why not a handgun?

After a few takes and editing the final cut may look entirely different. I think AB is having a bit of fun with us.
I know Eric fans really want him to be the knight in shining armor but how does it make sense for him to willingly take a bullet with a large dangerous were in the picture? Not only would it briefly incapacitate him but it makes both himself and Sookie vunerable to the were long enough to end badly. In the previous promo it appeared to me that Eric was on the floor bleeding and was just able to fend off the were while trying to find out who sent the were. No doubt he is able to recover to true vamp form in time to deal with the were.
Food for thought.

****************BOOK SPOILER**********
What I got out of this promo is:
1) Eric drives in front of a bullet and get’s shot (he is clearly driving INTO the bullet’s path)
2) They show Sookie holding a gun (not pulling the trigger and no smoke comming out of the barrel of the gun or even who she is pointing it at)
I think the Were from the first promo shot at Sookie and Eric drove in front of the bullet to save Sookie (because she can’t heal like he can) and then either Sookie had a gun or she got the Were’s gun somehow.
In one of the books Eric is driving Sookie home from Shreveport and they get pulled over by police (or so they thought) and a Were walks up and shoots at Sookie but Eric took the bullet for her. So maybe this is AB’s version of that. I don’t see any reason Sookie would shoot at Eric or why he would be diving into the bullet she shot at him, it just doesn’t make sense!
Thanks for listening to me rant, this is the first time I have ever posted anything on any website. I just felt I had to point out a few things I noticed!! =)

yes penguinii. I believe this is a possible scenario. I mentioned earlier that i think Eric protected sookie from the bullet by jumping in front of it. And I think sookie is positioning herself for protection from the were with his gun or her own. they do not show sookie firing it. just pointing and getting ready. At the same time, maybe sookie’s face is showing that she is impressed/amazed that eric would do that for her.
I forgot about that scene in the book. AB jumps around with the story by adding, switching or leaving some parts out.
[Reply]
If you watch the promo and pay attention to what is behind Sookie. It looks like the front door, slightly cracked. With the way the door opens, she is pointing the gun towards the dining room not the living room. So I don’t think she is shooting anyone. I think I agree with previous posters that maybe Eric takes a bullet met for her and then takes on the were and the fight moves to the dining room and she grabs the gun… But that is just my speculation. lol
