Season 5.01 Song Speculation – “Turn, Turn, Turn”

Season 5 Episode 1 is titled “Turn, Turn, Turn”.

Here’s our speculation about what song will be chosen by True Blood’s Creator and Executive Producer, Allan Ball and his Music Supervisor, Gary Calamar.

“Turn! Turn! Turn! (to Everything There Is a Season)”, often abbreviated to “Turn! Turn! Turn!”, is a song adapted entirely from the Book of Ecclesiastes in the Bible (with the exception of the last line) and put to music by Pete Seeger in 1959. The song became an international hit in late 1965, when it was covered by The Byrds, reaching #1 on the Billboard

Hot 100 chart and #26 on the UK Singles Chart. Thus, the song easily holds the record as the #1 song with the oldest lyrics.

Below is the famous version by The Byrds, 1965

It probably won’t be this version of the song but by an unknown musician’s interpretation of Turn, Turn, Turn.

I always liked that song. It would be a great song to use at this juncture of the series and given some of the storylines developing.

Love this song! An oldie but goodie! The title for the first episode really gets you thinking. Is someone being turned, turned, turned? Is this the only way a certain someone can be saved? Hmmm, I wonder who that could be…..

Loved the Byrds’ version of the song; uh, from my childhood, of course.
