As we told you previously, just like Season 1, Season 2 will be available in both Blu-ray, DVD, and digital download versions.
However, when we posted about the DVD’s and Blu-ray’s previously, we didn’t know specifics about the special features.
The standard DVD version will run you $59.99 and bring you a handful of special features, but throwing down an extra 20 bucks for the Blu-ray will mean tripling the bonus features, at least according to the press release. Here is what you can expect in each:
Standard DVD Bonus Features
- “Fellowship of the Sun: Reflections of Light” – Gives “rules to live by” from Fellowship of the Sun leaders Steve and Sarah Newlin.
- “The Vampire Report: Special Edition” – Highlighting the year’s biggest stories in vampire news, politics, and pop culture.
- Audio commentaries including creator Alan Ball, Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skarsgård, Michelle Forbes, Ryan Kwanten, Sam Trammell, Rutina Wesley, and more.
Blu-Ray Bonus Features include all of the above, plus…
- True Blood Enhanced Viewing – Picture-in-picture interactive content on all 12 episodes.
- Character Perspectives – Straight from the mouths of Hoyt, Pam, Karl, and Steve Newlin.
- Flashback/Flash Forward – Allowing the viewer to relive pivotal moments and revealing the significance of certain scenes.
- Pro/Anti-Vampire Feeds – News updates and information from the American Vampire League and the Light of Day organization that helps fans decide which camp they support.
- Hints/FYI – Trivia facts, show hints and clues.
So, seems like this season we’re getting a host of extras! Can’t wait.

Thanks, Lynn, for the features rundown. I have my order in for the DVD and am very much looking forward to finally having Season 2 in my hot little hands.

Intrigued by the “flashback/flashforward” feature on the blu ray.
There are a couple of pivotal scenes in season 2 that looked like they could have been flashforwarding so I’d be interested to see what this is about.
I suspect that some of the plot holes in the final few season 2 episodes may be due to the fact that we’re jumping around a bit and just not aware of it yet.

Sounds wonderful. The more extras the better.
I wish they would include some other bonus features like behind the scenes or bloopers. How fun would that be!
Can’t wait till May!

I was interested in the digital download version but I have not been able to determine where this is available. Does anyone know? I didn’t see the option on Amazon and it isn’t on iTunes. ( even though iTunes has several other HBO shows.)

I can’t wait to see Karl’s comments. He was such a mysterious character.
