True Blood will be premiering across the pond in the fall and there are new signs showing up all over the world promoting the show. Here’s a new “twist”, or should I say “impaling” sign promoting the new season that are seen in New Zealand. I have to admit that the US promotion was no where as bold.
IMPALED BILLBOARD: To differentiate True blood from the plethora of teen vampire shows, this ad agency as positioned our favorite show as “Vampires for Grown Ups.” They brought this to life on a billboard by driving a two meter long stake through the heart of one of th elead characters. The stake then protruded right out the other side into an ad for a (courageous) local underwear brand – creating a large unmistakable bulge in a very inappropriate place.

Wow! This certainly made a big impression on me … kind of like it did with that male model’s underwear. For grown ups, indeed!

I think the reason that these ads would not have been accepted in America is that many US States are very conservative. New Zealand, on the other hand, not so much.
