I knew that the song used for episode 1 of Season 4 would be the Zombies hit, “She’s Not There”, but what we didn’t know is that it will be a new version. Nick Cave and Neko Case have recorded the cover of the Zombies’ hit for the debut episode of season 4 of “True Blood.”
Cave and Case, who shared concert bills about a decade ago, were brought together for the season premiere, which is titled “She’s Not There.” The song closes the episode.
“You always want to serve the show, but in the back of my mind I’m always thinking about the soundtrack,” “True Blood” music supervisor Gary Calamar said Wednesday (May 4) at the Musexpo in Hollywood. The Cage and Case track replaces Santana’s cover of the tune, which was requested in the script. “The key to a good soundtrack is having fresh recordings.”
Both of the two soundtracks to “True Blood” were nominated for Grammys. The second edition featured several unique pairings, among them Elvis Costello with Lucinda Williams and C.C. Adcock with Jace Everett.
Season 4 of “True Blood” will premiere June 26 and at that time we’ll get to hear their version of the great hit.
