Hollywood scoop interviewed Joe Manganiello and Carrie Preston at the Victoria’s Secret “What Is Sexy” party at the W Hollywood, and they provided a few tidbits of what we can expect for Season 3. Here’s what they said:
Manganiello told us EXCLUSIVELY, “Werewolves show up—that is what I can tell you. There is going to be a lot of blood and people dying.”
“It’s definitely the werewolf season,” added Preston. “Some others are coming, I don’t know if I’m allowed to say. If you have read the books you know what I’m talking about.”
As for the huge obsession people have with True Blood, Preston told us, “We have an obsession with youth in this culture. The vampire represents eternal youth, I really think it’s as simple as that. Then I also think that people get excited to see if they were devoured by the object of their affection. You are consuming someone and they are consuming you.”
Manganiello added, “I think it real, that is why. You kind of believe it. I think the characters are great—you fall in love with them and then you die.”
We had to ask if there would be any big guest stars by celebs this season, like there was last year with Evan Rachel Wood. Joe dished to us, “The great thing about the show is that they have prided themselves in discovering new people. You are going to see a lot of fresh faces and a lot of people that are amazing. It’s the most talented cast I have worked with.”

“A lot of blood and people dying” … we’re in for another wild ride. I’m a little concerned about diminished screen time for the core characters. Otherwise, I’m looking forward to S3.

As far as guest stars go Alfre Woodard is probably the best known and biggest name to join TB this season that we have been told about. Joe may not be aware she will guest star as their storylines probably will not intersect. Sorry but I think ERW is the only casting mistake on TB thus far whereas you can bank on Alfre bringing something great to the party. Looking forward to the weres appearing.

Alfre is a fantastic actress. I would love to see her role become recurring.
