Kristin Bauer posted a comment on the article “I See Kids in Anna & Stephen’s Future” published on EOnline! on Sunday August 16.

In the article Kristin is quoted on a remark she made about her co-stars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer.

“Anna’s so great with Stephen’s kids and seems to love them so much, so she seems like someone who would be very open to having kids with him,“I wouldn’t be surprised.”

“Anna and Stephen laugh a lot,” said Bauer, who recently married musician Abri van Straten after dating for just six months. ”Stephen acts like a respectful gentleman to her. They seem like they’re friends and enjoy the same activities. They live together, they work together every day, and they seem to be inseparable.”

In a short period of time this article made it’s way over the internet and was picked up by many websites and blogs who speculated on a future pregnancy.

Kristin Bauer felt the need to explain herself and posted a comment on EOnline under the article:

Hey fans, Kristin Bauer * “Pam” here. Just to set the record straight so this doesn’t get out of hand. I have NO idea about Anna and Steven’s plans to have kids. NONE! I just think Anna is great with kids. They both are. They are a lovely couple. Kristin Bauer, “Pam”

No, on EOnline. I’ll change the text to make it more clear.

That sucks for Kristin – you could just see her quotes morphing out of context and into the narrative that the tabloids had already set up, and snowballing into something she didn’t mean.

On the topic of media narratives, I hate the way tabloids create false stories about women in general to fit into some sort of 1950′s soap opera ideal: if an actress is engaged, a baby must be on the way immediately, etc. – if I never see another “baby bump” story again it will be to soon!
(I often wonder if these stories spring from editorial pressure, or if writers just like cranking out potential-pregnancy stories b/c if they are vague and speculative and therefore easier to write, or if America just loves these stores and they move copies so the commercial lure is irresistible?)

i so agree. i’m really annoyed with all of these articles making it souund like anna pressured stephen into marriage and now she wants to get knocked up right away. they always do this to women. it’s sexist and obnoxious. they wil do what they want when they want to. can they just enjoy living in the now together without all the speculation.

That stinks that she had to clarify herself.

Nice of Kristin to clarify and pity she felt the need. Some of these reporters are so lazy they take a simple statement out of context and run with it. They use soundbites as stories. Why can’t they just let them enjoy their engagement. Maybe they will have kids and maybe they will not. It’s nobody’s business if and when they make that choice.

I’m sorry that Kristin’s words were jumped on and blown out of proportion. It was good of her to clarify but sorry it became necessary.
