Alan Ball’s “Banshee” gets a release date

True Blood’s creator, Alan Ball’s new show for Cinemax, “Banshee” has a premiere date of January 11, 2013 at 10 p.m. on Cinemax.

The first trailer for Banshee, which stars Greg Yaitanes (House), and Peter Macdissi, gives us a first glimpse at New Zealand native Antony Starr as Lucas Hood, a convict who assumes the identity of a man to become new sheriff of a small town with big problems (and an Amish community!). Of course, Hood doesn’t pick the town at random; it’s a place where his past and danger-filled present intersect. (Or, per the voiceover in the clip, it’s “the one place [he] absolutely should not go”).
